Percy was walking to the dining hall for lunch when he passed Zeus' cabin. He stopped and decided to invite Jason to walk with him. As he got closer to the door, he heard a banging sound coming from within. Percy immediately opened the door and ran inside only to stop in the door in surprise and confusion.
Jason was standing in the middle of the room with a mini lightning storm over his head. From what Percy could see, he was trying to demolish one of the golden eagle statues in the alcoves.
When Jason heard the door open, he turned quickly, but he quickly relaxed when he only saw Percy. He quickly dispersed the storm and smiled sheepishly, "Hey Perce. Did you, uh, need anything?"
Percy raised an eyebrow at him, "Actually, right now I'm wondering if you needed anything."
Jason slumped down on the floor and brought his knees up to his chest. He sighed, "I'm tired."
"Then take a nap." Percy said shrugging. When Jason sent an exasperated look his way, his face turned serious. "Right, serious time, sorry. What's wrong?"
"I'm tired of being a demigod."
Percy looked over at him, "Aren't we all?"
"Well ya, but I have more on my shoulders than most. I'm the son of Zeus, so I'm expected to lead others. Along with that, I also have the project to work on of getting statues and such for all of the gods. I'm just tired." Jason explained.
Percy looked up at the statue of Zeus as Jason talked. Frankly, he couldn't see how Jason slept in here without getting shivers. When Jason finished, Percy sighed. "Ya I understand what you mean. I may not be a son of Zeus, but my whole life I've been expected to lead the camp here like you did at camp Jupiter. Also, unlike your camp, this place tends to be just a little bit out of control."
Jason snorted, "Now that is an understatement."
"I know." Percy said smiling.
Jason's face turned serious again, "Percy, am I a failure? I mean, I don't feel like hero. I haven't done very many amazing things."
Percy's suddenly turned angrily at his cousin. "How dare you say that about yourself! Of course, you're a hero!" Seeing Jason cringe, Percy's face softened. "Jase, no matter what you think, you are a hero. Heroes aren't people who do amazing feats and save the world by themselves. Heroes are people who overcome trials with their friends and family as support. Heroes work together."
Jason looked over at his cousin and his face lit up with a small smile, "Thanks Perce."
"Anytime," Percy said nudging Jason's shoulder, "Hey, and if you need help with the god project, I can help. I kind of failed the first time, so I guess it would be good to help here."
Jason gave Percy a small glare, "You didn't fail. You just started it, and now, we finish it."
"Together." Percy finished smiling.
A/N I don't know if you guys liked this or not, but I'm putting up a one-shot sequel for this called Because That's What Family Does.
