Part of it was a familiar dream, one she had dreamt when she was younger. It was an anonymous face with dark hair, one she didn't recognize. They were standing in a park somewhere, it was dark, and it was humid in that Phoenix, Arizona way. She was about to receive her first kiss.
The boy leaned in and his curls brushed her face as she started to come closer too, eyes closed. Just when their lips were about to meet, she opened her eyes and saw another man. The man was pale, almost white. He had bronze colored hair; he was tall, and appropriately muscular.
He was sitting on a park bench, watching a mountain lion play with a lamb. She froze, the boy leaning in still, and she moved her head so all he got was her cheek. She cocked her head, watching him watch the animals. She moved the boy out of the way, out to the side where he blended into the darkness, turning into nothing. She moved forward, walking toward him, and breathed his name.
"Edward." He looked up at this, and saw her. He remained where he was and said her name.
"Isabella." Now normally she disapproved of people calling her by her proper name, but she didn't mind when it was spoken by such a beautiful voice.
She finally reached him and sat down next to him on the bench, and he shifted so that they were facing each other.
"All this time, I've been waiting for you." He spoke these words, softly.
She looked into his eyes, her lips on fire, wanting badly to put them on his.
He seemed to read her mind, even though she knew that was impossible. He leaned in, slower than the other boy, who had completely left her mind by now. Gently he placed his lips on hers. His lips were frozen into place, but her warmth allowed them to move again. He let her put her arms around his neck. While she somehow knew it would end soon, she tried to make the magical moment stretch a bit longer by being good. She didn't move her lips too much; she kept her hands in their position around his neck. Because she was being good, he let the kiss go until she had to breathe.
"Stupid human tendencies." She cursed herself. But she was glad. Glad that her first kiss belonged to this wonderful creature.
