It started innocently enough: July and I was taking a break from wedding plans with Alice. She was upstairs listening to sample tapes from local bands (local being the entire state of Washington, though I was successful in stopping her from hiring some big name rock band. Who knows how much that would have cost?) Every now and then, Edward would shout "No!" At least there was some oversight. Emmett, Jasper, Edward, and I were playing videogames on the new set-up Edward had purchased to thank the family for their efforts in the spring. It featured a massive plasma screen, bone-shaking surround sound, and every high-definition player and console imaginable. There were enough cables to reach to Charlie's house and back. We'd made the mistake of watching Jurassic Park last night and my eardrums were still ringing. Presently, Jasper and I were battling Edward and Emmett in an incredibly real (read: really gory) enactment of some World War II battle.

"Look! It's raining Bella!" cried Emmett as he once again exploded my on-screen self.

"Aw c'mon! At least let me fully regenerate before you… Emmett!!!! Stop!"

"You know, between Edward's fast and smart tactics, Emmett's blunt and impulsive tactics, and Bella's general lack of tactics, this is almost a challenge." Jasper grinned as he flanked one of Edward's platoons and single-handedly proceeded to decimate them.

I was still trying to survive past three seconds into a new life when Edward reached over and pushed a lengthy code into my controller. "Go for it, love." Emmett launched yet another grenade into my torso, but surprisingly enough, it didn't kill me. "Edward! You traitor!" I grinned and started chasing Emmett around the battlefield, lobbing every piece of my newly acquired weapons of mass destruction in his general direction.

Suddenly Jasper cried, "Bella stop! That's our side!"

"Oops." I blushed as Emmett cracked up laughing. Even invincible, I was a liability. Well, that's the story of my life. Beside me, I could feel Edward chuckling silently, then suddenly go still. On his other side, Jasper gasped. Even Emmett detected the sudden change, as he paused the game and started pacing the room.

"What? What is it?" I asked, as Edward focused on the horizon and Jasper leapt over the couch and toward the stairs. "Someone tell me what's going on!"

"They're coming… right now. They'll be here soon." Alice stood uneasily on the steps. Jasper scooped her into his arms and sent a wave of calm throughout the room.

"How soon?" Edward asked as he pulled me into his lap.

"Tomorrow morning. If she's not changed or well on the process, they will kill her. They will… Oh Edward, can you see?!"

Edward's grip tightened as Alice's visions pummeled his mind. "Why didn't you see it before?"

"I don't know! They must have just changed their mind! Aro knows what I can do. He knows my limitations. They know what Victoria did. I don't… I couldn't… Oh god, Bella!"

"Stop!" I pressed my head against Edward's chest. "What do we do now?"

"We run." Edward lifted me and moved towards the door.

"It won't work." Alice's small voice trembled. "They'll find her."

"Then we fight!" Emmett offered.

"There's too much bad blood from last spring. They're coming, lots of them, too many to stop. They're going to find her and kill her. Edward! We can't stop them! We're going to lose!"

Edward grip nearly crushed my rib cage as I cried, "Alice STOP! If we can't run, we have to stay. If we have to stay and we can't fight, we have to… to…"

Edward tilted his head down to look me in the eyes. "Bella?"

"I have to change."

"NO! You have another month! We had a promise! What about the wedding?"

"It's doesn't matter. I have to change now. Please Edward!"

Alice sighed, then said, "She's right. It'll work. You have to change her. It's the only way!"
