Summary: People get old, and they die, but they don't always accept the death…will Kaede be able to?

Death Comes Softly

The last of the leaves

Fall from the trees.

Through the dead meadow

Blows a cutting breeze.

Nothing is lost, but something

Will be found.

A cloaked shadow

Crosses the ground,

Yet she hears not a sound.

The frail old lady sits in front of the fire.

She reminisces of a time

She didn't so easily tire.

The fire warms her skin,

But the real cold has settled within

Her ancient bones.

The old hut she sits in

Constantly groans.

Suddenly, she turns, without seeing,

Towards her grim new friend.

She sighs with relief,

Knowing that it's finally the end.

The old woman willingly releases

Her last expiring breath,

As she readies her soul

For its journey with death.

Author's Note: Okay, I know it's short, but I thought it fit its purpose exactly. I hope you liked it. Please don't forget to REVIEW! As much as I like to write, I like to feel as if it counted for something! Oh, and I don't own Inuyasha or any of the other characters from the show. (I didn't use any names, so do I really have to say that! Oh well, it was an extra precaution.)
