A/N- I really want to say thank you to everyone who has reviewed/favorited/followed 'Who Knew'. Hope everyone likes this!
The beta offer still stands if anyone wants to be an awesome person and PM me.
This one's for Nicole and Anne, the two awesome people who take the time to hear me complain about anything I want to complain about. I don't envy their job as my best friends.
The swing set was where almost everything important to them ever happened. It's such a fairy tale place that no one would think something so simple and yet so cliche would be their spot. But it was. For very good reasons, too.
Firstly, think about the swing itself. How it had the power to lift you up into the sky, make you feel as though you were soaring through the air, but it also had the gentleness and the grace to bring you back down. Some people never get bored with the constant pendulum motion that makes you feel so free. Like you could fly.
The swing set is where they reunited after three months apart. After he watched her flatline in that ambulance. He was ready to take a bullet for her. The silver lining, which was what he was best at finding, was that she and Josh had broken up. He still might have a chance if he could just break those damn walls down.
It's the same swing set where she sat on that day, in the rain, contemplating her next move. She had hung off a building several stories high, let her mother's killer get away, possibly ruined the Esposito and Ryan bromance, and resigned from her job. Rain soaked through her shirt, drenched her hair and made mascara run down her face. When she got to the Castle loft, he thought she had never looked more beautiful.
Most importantly, it's where he got down on one knee and proposed to her. She stuttered, feeling like she was choosing between two completely different futures, completely different lives.
Years later, it's where an adolescent Johanna Castle got her first kiss.
