"Mou …"
Noguchi Ikuto looked up, raising an eyebrow at the pouting face of his girlfriend. She was sitting up in bed, arms crossed defiantly over her chest. Mahogany strands of hair, usually bound in two tight pigtails, now rested freely on her shoulders, reaching almost to where her arms were currently folded. Her emerald eyes burned with an angry fire as they glared at the blue-haired teenager who sat as calmly as he possibly could in a chair at her bedside. Ikuto almost laughed. She looked like she could kill something at that moment, but the both of them knew that she couldn't do much of anything right now.
"Chika, don't make me explain to you how I'm not letting you get out of bed today." The girl growled.
"I heard you the first ten times." Ikuto gave an apologetic smile, entwining his hand with hers, only to have her yank her hand away. He gazed at her somewhat sadly and she finally sighed, giving up and entwining her fingers with his and giving a gentle squeeze.
"This sucks …" she groaned, accompanying that groan with a small sniffle. Ikuto rubbed his thumb gently against hers.
"I know, I know. You'll just have to deal with it for now." Chika lay back down, her grip on her boyfriend's hand still just as tight. The two were quiet for a moment before Ikuto finally spoke.
"So … uh .. your mom went to see the doctor …"
"Uh-huh," was her reply. He bit his lip, looking to her face. She was staring boredly at the ceiling, face set in annoyance.
"… She'll be back soon?"
"Ikuto-kun, that's not helping."
"I know, I know! Give me some credit, I'm trying!"
"I do give you credit!"
"I'm doing the best I can!"
"I know!"
"Then stop complaining!"
"I'm the one sick in bed, I reserve the right to complain!"
"Chika!"
"Ikuto-kun!"
The two fell silent once more. Ikuto gently took his hand away from hers, but grasped it again upon hearing her whimper from the lack of affection. He gave her hand a gentle squeeze, and grinned.
"You know …"
"No."
"You don't even know what I was going to say!"
"I don't have to, the answer is no."
"Hear me out, Chika?"
Chika was silent.
"Chika?"
"What?"
"I could .. climb into bed with you."
"I already said no." Ikuto found himself grinning despite himself. He stood, letting go of her hand and nearly having a panic attack as he saw her eyes widen and heard the tiny whimpers of protest coming from her. He moved to the other side of the bed, lifting the covers from the other side. Chika rolled over, alarmed.
"What the--? Ikuto-kun, I said--!"
"Too late," He said softly, cutting her off with a gentle kiss to her lips. Chika sighed, her cheeks flushing slightly more than they already were from the fever she had. She grinned.
"I'm gonna get you sick, you know," She said softly, a mischievous look creeping into her eyes. Ikuto shrugged, settling himself in bed beside her and wrapping his arms gently around her waist.
"I'll risk it." She gently slapped his arm.
"You just want to get out of school, you bum," She giggled, snuggling into his chest. He sighed, resting his head atop hers.
"Maybe. Or maybe I just want to make sure you're nice and toasty."
"I don't need to be toasty, I've got enough of that with this stupid fever."
"Yeah, but you want me here." Chika was quiet for a moment before snuggling more against him and closing her eyes, her head resting against his chest.
"Yeah … I do." Ikuto began to rub her back, and eventually heard her breath slow. He smiled. She was finally asleep.
He closed his eyes, placing a small kiss to her forehead before drifting off into a light sleep himself.
