Rain

--

Kay guys, here's another Tokka story for ya'll! This was inspired by all of the rain I've been getting. Also inspired by when I had to go pick up my litter brother and sister in the pouring rain. Enjoy!

"Where's Toph?" Sokka asked his sister.

She shrugged, "I'm not sure. She told me she was going for a walk."

"I'm getting worried," Aang stated with a frown. "It's been pouring for a while now. What if she got lost?"

"I'm sure she's fine. She can carry her own weight, remember?" Katara retorted, remembered the last big fight they had.

Sokka rolled his eyes, "Quiet Katara. She can't carry anything in this weather if she can't see." The pattering of the rain on their 'home' grew louder. Sokka sighed. Where ever Toph was, she probably was cold and wet. And most likely irritable.

"I am going out to look for her," he said as he grabbed his coat. "Do we have an umbrella?"

Aang snorted, "We would, but Momo ate it." And as if he had heard Aang, Momo's ears wilted, and he scurried off to hide.

Sokka shook his head at the lemur and grabbed Katara's coat, "OkthanksI'mborrowingthisbye."

"Wait!" but Sokka has slammed the door.

As he was looking, or trying to look for Toph, he couldn't help but think about how cold and lost she must be. He must have looked down every ally, and in every store. And every time he would stop to peruse an item in a shop, the rain would come down even harder.

"OKAY I'm looking I'm looking!" he would scream aloud. Several patrons would cock their eyebrows at the soaked teen, but he would just mumble to himself and move onto the next store.

For what it seemed like an hour later, Sokka looked down the last ally of the dead end. And there she was. The blind bandit, soaked, wet, and sitting there, in the mud, as giant raindrops were falling on her raven black hair.

"Toph?" Sokka said quietly as he approached her. Her eyes shot up and looked at him. He thought he had seen her make a face of appreciation towards him, but she then jumped up and lowered her head.

"Hey," she said cooly. She was debating whether she should hug him or punch his guts.

"I'm not sure if I should give you a lecture, or hug you and tell you everything is going to be okay," Sokka joked, but kept his distance, since he knew Toph was probably going to punch him, no matter if she found it offensive or not.

"I'm fine."

"You're soaked."

"So?"

He shook his head, "What are you doing out here?"

"Well, I enjoy being freezing, and I do love sitting in the pouring rain as I feel myself going into hypothermia. Such a lovely feeling."

"Seriously."

Toph walked closer to Sokka, and stared at her feet, "I can't see."

"No, really?"

She finally gave him the punch he earned a minute ago.

"I can't feel anything, Meatbrain. All of the rain splashing down on the earth just makes me have a headache. All of the vibrations are messed up."

"Oh, sorry."

"Oh don't give me your pity. Now can you bring me home or what?"

He smiled. She was such a tiny girl, and inside he knew she was a sensitive and fragile child, but Toph Bei Fong would NEVER let anyone see that side of her. "Yeah, I can. I brought you this." He handed her Katara's blue jacket.

Toph slipped it over her head and jammed her numb hands into her pocket. "Ugh, it's wet."

"Sorry."

"Stop saying sorry!"

"Sor-okay."

They started heading back to their temporary home. Sokka looked down at Toph, who was still shivering. He put an arm around her shoulder. She stopped and looked at him with her unseeing eyes. "What?" she said. But not in her usual, sharp and witty tone. It was soft, almost like she was scared.

"Everything is going to be okay."

She smiled, and half hugged him back, "I know."
