"Revy?"
Rock always tried to find the right balance between waking her up and pissing her off when he knocked on her door. The Lagoon Company had work today, and Dutch had long since foisted the thankless task of waking up the resident mad gunwoman to Rock on a permanent basis.
He'd told him it would help 'build character.'
By the time the coffee was ready, Revy had staggered out of her room, but it looked like she hadn't bothered to change. She ignored the others and made a drunken beeline towards Rock, flopping against him and nuzzling into his neck.
"Mmmm…Rock, are the kids at school yet? I wanna sleep in…"
No one moved. No one breathed. It wasn't until the coffee fumes hit Revy's nose that she stood up straight, opened her eyes, and wondered what the hell she was doing walking around in her underwear.
"Actually, I think she stopped sleepwalking around the time you joined the company, Rock."
Dutch was tapping his chin, looking thoughtful.
"Shut up. Not Another. Fucking. Word."
"You don't think it's related, somehow?"
Benny looked over to him from the driver's seat, idly tapping the steering wheel as he spoke.
"I'm warning you sons of bitches…"
Sitting in the back seat next to Revy, Rock was doing his best not to make things worse as they drove to the harbour.
"Well, it was just a dream, right? They don't always have to mean anything."
He failed.
Slowly, inexorably, Revy's murderous gaze turned and locked with Rock's own.
"I-I mean, don't worry about what anyone says. I'm sure you'd make a great mother!"
…
Up front, someone couldn't hold in a snort.
"MOTHER FUCKERS!"
In the end, they arrived missing two windows and a bumper. Benny was taking deep breaths after being strangled, Dutch had a cut across his forehead, and Revy was sulking as she dragged a bruised Rock on board. Hitting him had actually made her feel worse, and that just made her want to hit him more. It was a vicious cycle.
Everyone was immensely relieved when Revy had the chance to shoot some guys later.
And Rock was sure to have the coffee ready before he woke Revy up from now on.
