What She Left Behind

Everyone was packing up and getting ready to go home from the SOS brigade meeting room. It had been a pretty quiet day. I had beaten Koizumi in a game of Go, Miss Nagato had been silently reading the whole time, Haruhi had been checking the brigade website, and the lovely Miss Asahina had been brewing tea with her exquisite hands.

I was the last one to leave so I had to lock up. I was just about to shut the door when something caught my eye. It was a pink wallet with a heart shaped clip. I picked up the wallet and turned it over and found a card with the owner's name. To my surprise it belonged to Miss Asahina. I bolted out the door to try to see if she was still there but to no avail. I thought about the situation and decided to deliver the wallet to Miss Asahina personally but I then realized that I had no idea where she lived. I went to the office to see if I could get her address and I was lucky enough to discover that she lived only a few blocks from the school.

I was walking over to her house when I dropped the wallet and it opened. As I was picking it up, I noticed a picture inside one of the plastic holders. The picture showed Miss Asahina with three other people, an older man and woman and a little boy. The older man had shaggy hair that was the same color as Miss Asahina's with similar eyes and a beard while the woman had caramel colored hair that went to her waist and matching eyes and the boy had the same eye color as Miss Asahina but had the hair color of the older woman. They were all dressed in waiter attire and standing in front of what seemed to be a tea house. I guessed that this must have been her family in front of their business.

As I closed the wallet and headed over to Miss Asahina's apartment, I thought about what must have happened in the future that would make Miss Asahina decide to leave a seemingly happy life in order to go back in time just to be sexually harassed by the person who caused the disaster. It made me feel even sorrier for Miss Asahina than I had ever been.

I was finally at the apartment complex. I went to her door and rang the bell. I heard a faint noise that sounded like "coming" and watched as the door opened to reveal the beautiful Miss Asahina.

"Hello Kyon. What brings you all the way over here?"

"Well, you left your wallet back at the brigade room and I thought that I would deliver it to you personally. Here ya go."

"Oh thank you so much! I was wondering where this thing was. If I'd lost it, I would've been in big trouble. Thanks again."

After that she shut the door and left me to further ponder about what she left behind.
