A/N= Just a random thought that I had recently about how it would be interesting to see the characters of Dawn Summers and Paige Matthews linked somehow. This is what my brain came up with. Also wanted to see if I could write something based on characters who were introduced to an already established show.

No one of the Scooby Gang thought to question more into what they had found about Dawn, the key. Even if they had, it would have been of no real use to them. After all Glory was here in Sunnydale. And they all had their own problems to worry about. There was not the time to seek outside help from people they didn't know, for which they would have to spend countless more hours searching for.

But still, the idea that an over thousand something year old ball of energy could fit into one person, no matter the size, would have raised eyebrows. The eyebrows of anyone outside this close-kit circle, after all they all those involved had their life in danger and the weight of the world on their shoulder. Not that they hadn't been there, and done that before, it just seemed like this time it might … come to pass.

When Buffy had entered the trance, she had been able to see any changes that had been done through magic to the world around her. Buffy had witnessed the changing pictures, and the changing memories of her life. She felt ill. And the most startling part of the endeavour was the blinking of Dawn in and out of existence. But with the worry of her mother's illness and the realisation that there was something wrong with Dawn, Buffy was easily distracted. She missed something. She failed to see translucent cord shimmering with an aquamarine colour.

A little over a four-hour drive away would have led them to San Francisco. Following the cord, Buffy and the Sunnydale gang would have been led to the building of the South Bay Social Services. There they would have stopped at the desk of an attractive brunette, with pale skin and full lips. They probably would have been vaguely reminded of Dawn, or who Dawn could look like in some years to come. The main differences being the shape of the nose, colour of the eyes and hair.

The cord would have ended there, tied to the waist of Paige Matthews. She was the newly found half-sister of Phoebe and Piper Halliwell. Paige had now become the latest member of witches from a long distinguished line, and now completing the 'Charmed Ones' with her sisters, after the death of Prue Halliwell.

A girl similar to Dawn, as in they had both entered a family. Although for people who knew Dawn, she had always been there. But for Paige Matthews, she was an individual with her own memories and experiences that were different from her biological family.

Would they have gotten along. Both seeing something in eachother that they both saw everyday when they saw they're own eyes in the mirror. They probably would have enjoyed casually strolling down the art galleries in Sunnydale and San Francisco while Buffy or another from the Scooby gang trailed grubling behind. Though that would exclude Willow and Tara, they'd be strolling hand-in-hand and encouraging Dawn to embrace her artistic side. Afterwards, they'd have a giant yummy drink that was obviously very naughty for them but they'd have anyway.

But no one thought to question, and no one saw the link. So no one noticed, no one knew.

Although they didn't share the same blood, they both had the same essence colouring everything about them.

They were both the key, and were one. Both held the answers of certain magical destinies.
