This is so boring.
Romana couldn't see the appeal in fishing. It wasn't stimulating in anyway and seemed to her like a great waste of time. They were currently sitting in the middle of a lake in a boat that looked so ancient she was surprised it hadn't started leaking already.
The Doctor, on the other hand, seemed to be enjoying himself greatly. He hummed to himself as he looked out over the still surface of the lake. "Isn't this relaxing, Romana?"
"I suppose." She mumbled. "It's not relaxing so much as boring."
The Doctor turned and gave her an indignant stare. She pretended not to notice and went on. "Couldn't you have choosen something that was remotely exciting?"
"I'll have you know that fishing is a very exciting sport."
Romana rolled her eyes. "Honestly Doctor, I'm not stupid. We've been sitting here for a whole day and nothing has happened."
The Doctor's fishing rod trembled and dipped forwards. He gave a shout of excitement. "Now we'll see just how exciting fishing really was."
It must be a big fish, thought Romana. The Doctor's rod was bent so much that she thought it would break. He stood up, making the little boat wobble. Romana gripped the edges tightly. She didn't want to go swimming, thank you very much.
"Doctor, maybe you should sit-"
She had barely finished the sentence when the Doctor suddenly tipped forward and fell into the lake with a loud splash. Romana waited for him to resurface, but after a few minutes there was still no sign of him. Cautiously, she peered over the edge, trying to catch a glimpse of him. But the surface was calm and still, with no sign of the Time Lord.
Romana swallowed and leaned further, studying the water intently. He couldn't have drowned, could he? She let out a shriek as the boat suddenly rocked violently. The water rushed toward her as she lost her balance.
The water was suprisingly cold, despite the fact that the sun was beating down. As she hit the water, Romana instinctively held her breath. Kicking out with her legs, she burst out of the surface with a gasp. As she shook her wet hair out of her face, a voice sounded beside her.
"Well Romana, was that exciting enough for you?"
The Doctor looked immensely pleased with himself and she scowled.
"Doctor, you nearly gave me a heartsattack."
His grin widened. "You wanted excitement, didn't you?"
Romana had to admit he had a point, though she would never tell him that. Rassilon knows how big his ego already was. She splashed some water at him and he ducked, still grinning.
"I think I've had enough excitement for one day."
