Don't lie to spare my feelings
Lindsay Messer sat holding her daughter Lucy as they were watching one of Lucy's favorite shows waiting on her husband Danny to get home from his shift. Lindsay had noticed that day at work the Danny seemed a little bit off so to speak. He was moving a little slower than usual like he was in pain. Lindsay had called him out on it but he had said he was fine. Even hours later Lindsay could still remember that conversation
Flashback
Lindsay had seen her husband walking as if his back was hurting so she ran to catch up with him
"Danny!" Lindsay cried out
"Yeah sweetheart" replied Danny
"Is your back bothering you? You seem to be walking like you are in pain of something."
"What? No I am fine don't worry Linds I swear it's all good."
"Are you sure?
"Honey, yes I am sure now you are suppose to be off now, you should go pick up Lucy and I will see both of you tonight. I love you" With that Danny kissed his wife and went back to work
"I love you too Danny" Lindsay called out.
End flashback
Lindsay must have lost her train of thought because before she knew it Lucy had climbed off the couch and was heading over to the door to see her daddy who had just walked into the apartment.
"DADA!" squealed Lucy
"Hey baby girl! Have you been good for mommy?"All Danny got in reply was a smile and nose poke from his little girl.
After Danny and Lindsay had put their daughter to sleep, they sat cuddled on the couch watching TV. As Lindsay laid there snuggled up close to her husband, she knew the thoughts that were bugging her all day had to be made known. Hiding them and stressing out over them was not a good thing.
"Hey um Danny?"
"Ya Babe?"
"Ok I know you told me that your back wasn't bothering you but, I know you are lying to me. I can tell that you are in pain. I just wish you would tell me so that I can help you. I mean I am your wife after all. Just don't lie to me just to spare my feelings."
"Montana what are you talking about?"
"Danny I mean it! Tell me what is going on with you!"
"Ok ok calm down sweetheart"
"I'm sorry Danny. You're my husband and I just worry about you because I love you ya know?"
"Yes I understand honey"
"Then cut the crap and just tell me what is going on with you!"
"Ok, well ever sense I chased that homeless guy me back has been a little sore. I think maybe I just put a little too much strain on it."
"Danny are you sure you are ready to be out in the field again? Maybe you jumped back in to it way too soon."
"No I am fine!"
"Danny don't get defensive I just don't want you to hurt yourself again. Just think if you were to put too much strain on you back. What if you end up back in that wheel chair do you really want that again?"
"Of course not"
"Then do me a huge favor and stop being so stinking hard headed and take it easy to protect yourself."
"Ok Linds you are right ok, I just want to be back to how I was."
"And you are getting there it just takes time and patience. I am not saying that you shouldn't be out in the field I am just saying that maybe not as much until your back is stronger and able to handle the strain."
"Ok, since you put it that way Mrs. Messer, hows about I talk to Mac about it tomorrow and see what he thinks and then we will go from there."
With that the couple got up and walked hand in hand to go to bed for a much needed sleep.
