Dear Mr Scamander,

We hope you have enjoyed your recent stay at our Sanctuary and that you have been able to gain new insights for your research – and that our owl finds you well.

Upon inspection of the area around the hut on the banks of Lake Salem, in which you have been staying, one of our rangers found an egg, which, as we believe may belong to your collection. It has been taken into our care and we are about to find out what creature it contains, though we have formed some working hypotheses.

We should very much like you to be at the event, and may have a surprise for you should you and your companion decide to attend.

For this purpose both of your visiting and apparition permits have been extended by special permission of the Minister of Magic (you wouldn't believe the paperwork).

Please return this owl as quickly as possible, to let us know whether you wish to return temporarily to our Sanctuary.

Wishing you all the best with your research (and you are welcome to share ours)

We remain

Scientifically yours
