He had never really taken the time to think about it; he had never believed in Heaven or Hell in the first place, so it was not one of the front-most thoughts in his mind. Not as he wrote down all those names in the Death Note. Not as he fought against L to keep his life. Not as he watched L die. Not when he had received the news of Mello's death. Only then, as he lay dieing on the ground, surrounded by the Kira task force and the remaining SPK members, did the thought occur to him.

There may not be anything after death; neither Heaven nor Hell as he predicted, but it did not mean that the human soul just disappeared forever.

Raito was human just as all of the criminals and innocents he killed were human. Humans, no matter what person, were filled to the brink with emotion. Hatred, easily. And for most, the thirst for revenge.

Now the Yagami could only wish for the best as he floated in that nothingness, completely surrounded by all those hate-filled murderers, rapists, thieves, con-artists, and government officials he had killed in his life. He was totally helpless in such intense darkness, and he prayed to God that it was Misa, maybe even Takada, who was clinging to his arm to securely.

Threats echoed throughout the infinite space, though only one voice seemed to reach him through his frantic thoughts; and still, even after death, the man had the most annoying way of putting things.

"Sucks to be you."

Damn L!

A.N- Alright then. This was just some random thought that popped into my head. It actually changed while I was writing it, though. The original version only had Mikami, Higuchi, Raito, Misa, Takada, and Soichiro, and it was something about Misa grabbing Raito's hand. He then quickly informs her that that isn't his hand. Stupid, I know. Read, review, and critique pleeeaaasseee

XD

Also, I know some people are waiting on another chapter of 'A Card' for some reason. Anyways, I won't be updating any time soon. I'm brain dead for that story. So ideas are welcome.
