Peasant Girl's Vision

I'm coming out soon,

Into the sunshine, into the storm.

I'm going to smile into chaos,

Fears dead before they're born.

I will shatter with a will,

The restraints upon my joy.

Of society or self,

The shackles that burn and cloy.

Beyond myself and part of more,

Seeking boundaries unseen.

With my heart I'll always pour,

Myself into strident life.

Soon, quickly, nearing.

The thunder's there

For those who dare

To hear it rumbling.

A part of me glimmers,

Hidden so very deep.

Beneath the tension past,

For years it will keep.

It will not lie forever,

Mired in the dark.

For now it merely slumbers,

Rests in fitful sleep.
