I. Clear Mind
She woke up in a wooden room filled with different creatures moving about and beds filled with the sick and wounded. Somehow, this didn't feel strange to her. She was used to inhuman beings.
"Arriana Brooklyn?" a Centaur asked. Arriana's head shot to the right and her eyebrows scrunched up in confusion. Was she Arriana Brooklyn? Who were these beings? She did not know, and it scared her.
"Is that my name? Am I Arriana?" she asked in a quiet voice, thick with a British accent- obviously standing out from the room. They were all Americans.
"As far as we know, yes," the old Centaur replied. "Now, let's go to the Big House and I'll explain what I know there." A half-goat, half-man thing—a satyr, she recalled-helped her up and they followed the half-horse, half-man out the door.
The view amazed Arriana. The weather was pleasing and the people seemed to be enjoying themselves. There were kids playing volleyball and kids fighting with swords. Most of them were wearing an orange shirt saying, "Camp Half-Blood."
They entered a large blue house and were seated in what seemed to be a recreational room. In it was a strange array of guests: a black-haired, green-eyed boy who was seated close to a blonde, wise-looking girl; a burly looking warrior dressed in complete armor; and a couple more.
"Arriana, my name is Chiron and I am the camp activities director," the old horse said. Arriana stared at him blankly.
"What camp?" she asked.
"This camp is Camp Half-Blood. This is where all the... special children like you go, where it's safer. You are a half-blood," he explained. This still confused Arriana.
"Half what? And what do you mean by special? Safer?" Arriana exclaimed. She was getting a little annoyed. Someone just tell her already. Enough with the riddles! The glass of water on the table was vibrating as she became more and more infuriated.
"I think you know. Half-blood meaning half-mortal, half-God," he said. This shocked Arriana. She had no idea who she was and still they were forcing these facts to her. "You are the daughter of a God, Arriana. It is much safer for you to stay here, away from certain hungry monsters."
"So you mean there are creatures trying to kill me?!" she exclaimed in her accented British voice. "How do I know you, all of you, are the good guys? How the bloody hell did I even get here?! Someone tell me, because I don't know! I have no idea where I come from, and I've got no idea about who the bloody hell I am!" The glass of water was trembling hard and as she screamed the last sentence, the water burst out, breaking the glass and leaving everyone damp and speechless. Arriana took deep breaths and finally calmed down a bit. Everybody was staring at her open-mouthed. She noticed there was something different. Something was glowing, just at the spot above her… And there it was, a green glowing trident, basting her in soft light. Chiron was the first to recover from the shock.
"Percy, take Arriana first, please. Show her around and let her rest later," Chiron filled the silence.
"It looks like I've got a sister," said Percy.
