Colonel Roy Mustang was sitting at his desk one fine afternoon day when he received a letter from someone the he knew well. At first he didn't recognize the writing, but then it hit him and it made him smile, even though the former Major caused him more headaches than none.
A smile spread across the Colonel's face as he slid a finger under the flap and pulled out the contents. There was only a picture and a short note. The note read:
"Hey, Colonel, how're things in Central? Has Hawkeye shot you yet? What about you making Fuhrer? I'm waiting for that headline in the newspaper, so get on it.
Anyway, I do hope you and everyone else are doing well. Thanks for everything and every opportunity that you offered me and Alphonse while I was in the military.
-Mr. and Mrs. Elric, Alphonse, Mae, and Pinako Rockbell
Mustang then pulled out the picture and he couldn't help but laugh when he saw it. It was of Edward holding a little blond boy that looked just like him, Winry holding a little girl that looked like her, then Al, Mae, and Pinako standing around them. All of them had huge grins on their faces, and they looked happier than Roy had ever seen any of them. He had to admit, he did miss the boy. Everyone else on Roy's team did as well. He used to bring a liveliness' to the place that's been missing ever since the former Major has been gone.
After looking at the picture for a little bit more, Mustang stood up and walked out of his office to lean against the door jam. His grin was still in place when all of his team turned to look at him.
"Did you receive something of interest, Sir?" Hawkeye asked.
"Oh, nothing, really," Roy said, "just that I received a short letter and picture from Mr. Elric."
Everyone got a bright smile on their face and rushed over to Mustang to read the note and look at the picture. All of the team had huge grins on their faces when they finished.
