HELLO WORLD: I'm a testing writer and this is my first story on this site, I'm a college freshman and aspiring writer.
I'm writing these stories to test my creative writing skills, and improve upon them.
That doesn't mean I'm publishing crap though, I'm actually trying so don't worry. If you like please review, favorite, follow, and with that enjoy.
P.S: This and the first few chapters are short when compared to what I have planned for the rest of the series, just to help introduce the characters and to gain interest.
"The World of Pokemon, a vast and wondrous place to explore. From the bottom of the sea, across the land, and to the tips of the skies, anywhere there is life, there are pokemon. Pokemon are creatures with fantastical powers over nature, energy, life and some would even say magic. People and pokemon have coexisted for a long time and have come to depend on one another. Some pokemon live with us as pets, others travel with people known as Pokemon Trainers who battle with their pokemon in tournaments and contests to be the best that they can be. No matter what the matter of their relationship is or their end goals are there is always one thing you must remember-"
"That no matter the goal pokemon are our partners and friends and we should always treat them with respect."
The balding old man smiled at the girl who interrupted his speech that sat on the sand before him, leaning back on her hands. Her strawberry blonde hair put up in a bun, a few strands dangling over her forehead in front of a pair of hazel eyes, a faint scar under her right eye. On her lap a small red bipedal creature that resembled that of a duck rested.
"Someone's learning fast!" the old man said, the girl on the sand just giggled.
"I wouldn't say that I'm learning fast, just that like most people I remember what somebody tells me everyday for a year."
The pokemon on her lap laughed at that falling to its side, while the old man just rubbed the back of his head.
"Well sorry if my advice has gotten a little tedious, I just want to make sure you know everything you need to. Tomorrow's a big day for you Scarlett."
"I know Blaine, and it's not tedious. Heck if it wasn't for you me and magby wouldn't be together." She said as she got up, Magby standing beside her, sucking on one of its fingers.
"It's just I don't think you can teach me anything else. Anything I need to learn now is out there." She gestured to the glimmering ocean. The sun was setting, a golden aura glowing in the sky casting a reflection onto the water.
"I guess you're right." He said, standing beside her, gazing out with her. Magby yawned and grabbed at Scarlett's hand.
"Are you tired Magby?" Scarlett asked, it nodded as she picked him up into her arms.
"He probably is, it's getting late. You should head home." Blaine suggested with a pat to Scarlett's shoulder, before he walked over to an old beach shack. She just nodded and started walking in the opposite direction, Magby already asleep in her arms.
"You better come see me before I leave old man!" she shouted.
"You can bet on it lassie!" Blaine responded.
Scarlett beamed before continuing her walk off of the beach and to the mainland of the island. She sighed and looked into the sky, this would be the last sunset she'll have on the island in a while because tomorrow she'll be leaving Cinnabar Island and head off to Pallet Town to start her Pokemon journey. Last week she turned 13 and in the Kanto region once you turn 13 you have the choice to either stay in school or go on a journey. Scarlett knew since she could walk that there was no way she'd give up the chance to go on her own journey.
She walked through the change from beach to sparse forests, with large cranes and construction vehicles stood beside incomplete buildings on one side, while more finished building rested on the other. On one of the buildings she could see a woman and her Primeape finishing up a roof project that she saw them start this morning.
"Hey Mrs. Ram, first up last down again huh?" Scarlett shouted and the woman just chuckled and waved before continuing her project.
That's another thing that Scarlett's going to miss about Cinnabar, the hard work ethic of the few people that are here. Working their best to bring the island back to its prosperous and inviting demeanor that was lost what felt like so long ago.
Scarlett walked passed the construction sites and came to a decent sized trailer park where her family stayed. She walked to one of the trailers at the end and walked right in, nobody really bothered to lock their doors around here. Inside she saw her mom and dad looking at blueprints and graphs on the small collapsible table.
"Honeys I'm home." she said sitting on the couch.
"Hey Scar, how was it with Blaine." her mother asked not looking from the papers.
"You know the usual, he gave the same speech about how to treat pokemon and tons of advice on how to make a good pokemon team."
"Well he's proud of you Scar, we all are. He's seen you grow up and now you're leaving to start your very own journey. I wish I had done that when I was your age." her father said, just like her mother, to the table rather than her.
"Yeah, well I need to finish packing all of my stuff for tomorrow. Is there any food left?"
"Yeah in the microwave, and if that's not enough there's more in the fridge." Her mother answered.
With that Scarlett left the couch, got her food, and went off to her room to finish packing. She layed Magby down on the bed and looked around the room. It was small, but it was her escape from the noise and busy work of the construction, her little hole of safety, and now she was leaving it. Scarlett was mostly done packing, the clothes she planned on taking all in her duffel bag along with sleeping bags, towels and her plush Teddiursa doll. The only thing she really needed to pack now was her first aid kits, for both her and her pokemon, food for the road, her tent and emergency supplies.
It was all set out and ready, she just hasn't gotten around to pack it yet, cause once she did, that meant she was really leaving. She wanted to go obviously, but that didn't mean she wasn't nervous or wasn't going to miss Cinnabar.
"This is it, tomorrow's the day. Let's do this." she told herself as she grabbed the flashlight and put it in one of the pockets of her backpack, it was now or never.

"Magby!"
The little pokemon cheered as it and Scarlett walked out of their home the next day. Scarlett's parents and the rest of the construction workers waited in front of the home. There Scarlett stood in front of them, she wore a red and white tie dyed t-shirt with a pokeball imprinted in the middle, a pair of cut off jeans and her new pair of white traveling shoes. She had her duffel bag around her shoulders, as well as a small backpack.
"You look adorable."
Mrs. Ram said, her primeape nodded in agreement. The crowd began to flood her with compliments about her appearance and about how proud they were. She gave each and every person a hug or two or three, each one longer than the last.
"Do you really have to go?" a little boy asked, as he tugged at the end of the shirt. The other few island children shared his same lost and sad look, some begging her to stay with them.
"Don't worry I'll be back soon, I promise." she vowed.
"She has no choice, I'm expecting a battle lassie." Scarlett turned to see Blaine standing there. She ran over and gave him a big and long hug.
"You can bet on it old man. Right Magby?" Scarlett said and Magby pumped its fist in the air in agreement.
Blaine chuckled at the little fire type pokemon and patted his head, "You take care of her Magby. She's going to need it."
"Magby Mag!" It assur him.
"And you lassie be careful, the world is a wonderful but dangerous place. You need to stay vigilant out there and remember what I told you about Pokemon and you'll be fine. Make Cinnabar proud."
Blaine left her with that as he walked away from the crowd and back to his solitude. He's never been one to stay with the crowd for as long as she knew him. She didn't even think he'd actually show up and she'd have to stalk him down before it was time for her to leave.
"The ship will be here soon Scarlett, are you ready?" her mother asked.
Scarlett looked as Blaine walked away, before she turned to her mother then down to Magby. They both nodded to each other with confident smiles before it jumped up into her arms.
"As ready as I'll ever be!"
