Lately at "Chef's Table"
E/O Drabble challenge, word: pour.
Summary: Dean would choose fighting a vengeful spirit anytime over losing the battle against sophisticated table culture.
A/N: Well thanks a lot, Chick Feed! This was a challenge much more challenging than I'd thought :-D. To everyone else: This is what I had to do in return to having Chick Feed write that beautiful Scottish ballad last week. Picture our boys with a prospective client in a Michelin-starred restaurant. And don't blame me – they're all Kripke's ;-) Oh, and sorry ... 200 words. Sue me!
Rows of gleaming cutlery.
On both sides of the huge white plate.
And three glasses in front of him. Three! What the fuck were they thinking? That he was a drunkard?
His glare went unnoticed by his oh-so-fashionable brother who discussed the matter of the haunted Brooklyn Bridge with the great-grandson of the man who'd designed the cursed thing – and was its first victim.
He flinched when new plates materialized in front of them like out of thin air.
"Ah, the hors d'oeuvre," smiled Mr. Roebling.
The small heaps of minced whatever looked nothing like horse to Dean.
He grabbed the apron-clad guy next to him.
"Now listen, dude. I'd like a bottle of ketchup and a pitcher of beer, and pronto, if you please."
He poured a healthy dose of predator in his toothy grin.
"Three stars my ass," he muttered, ignoring the murderous look on his brother's face.
"So, err … you think you can deal with these … apparitions … before we start with the renovation of the bridge?" Mr. Roebling asked.
"Positive, sir." Dean nodded confidently, trying to sort out where to begin with the cutlery.
"Piece of cake – compared with getting stuffed in this … OUCH!"
A/N 2: I discovered "Chef's Table at Brooklyn Fare" doing a little research about Michelin-starred restaurants in the USA - looks nice enough - and seriously: If you ever go there, watch for ghostly shadows and spooky cries at the Brooklyn Bridge - the thing IS haunted!
