Loki Rolled the bulbed ring between his fingers thoughtfully. Revisiting how the past month had ended him up in a dark hotel room under an assumed identity. He ran a hand through his short-dyed hair, the dark roots already showing. He brought the hand down, rubbing his stubbled jaw, cringing. He preferred a clean face, stubble reminded him of filth, of imperfection.
He truly felt disgusting. No better than a piece of street trash. Not a ruler, but an indentured bounty hunter, that fit the description best. He supposed it was his punishment. He had led an entire army to their deaths; he underestimated the power of those Midgard mortals. The Chitauri should have slaughtered him, but instead they freed him.
Without the Tesseract to create a gateway, the act wasn't very subtle. There were casualties, he was sure. It didn't bother him, Asgardian scum. He would finish them all off, destroy that entire dimension. Loki smirked in the darkness.
He would ensure victory.
He pinched the ring between his fore finger and thumb. Silver, with a black bulb fitted to the top. His key to unlock immortality, all he had to do was find the door.
"You wear this, and the energy flows right into it, than swallow the gem, like medicine, and you're done."
Loki furrowed his brows and frowned; he truly hoped the ring would work, or else he'd be forced to strangle the lying breath out of the merchant that sold him the ring. His frown deepened, his plans would be obsolete. How was he to be sure that the Chitauri wouldn't just execute him once he brought them their bounty? No, the ring had to work.
They'd sent him back to Midgard because that was where their target appeared most often. A being Loki had thought extinct, a species that was once feared, still feared. Time Lords. To be told a handful of them still existed only made him shutter for a moment. He'd been told tales of them as a child, but he was a man now. And the Chitauri only required the one.
The man in the blue box. And he was proving difficult to find.
"He's everlasting and dangerous. He's a devil and a god, DO NOT go looking for him, and don't you dare cross him. It will be your end."
That woman. She had obnoxious hair and dangerous eyes. Loki could see something in her. Something in her heart that seemed infinite. Yet, she didn't start to regenerate when he stabbed her. He was aggravated, all he needed was that damn regeneration energy. The secret to immortality. He had no need for the time lord body, the Chitauri could keep it, he just needed that energy.
He rubbed his face and shuttered out a breath. He needed to stay collected. There was no room for flaws this time. This was his last move; he was going to make it count.
A/N
(For some reason doesn't want us writing A/Ns, but I find it necessary.) I hope you all like it, sorry it's so short, I kept rewriting it. I might go back and change it again, but I'll get the next chapter up first. If you find any misspellings or grammar errors, please let me know! I tried to get rid of all the ones I could find.
I'm really sorry I stabbed River! I'm a fan of the character so I wasn't hating on her or anything. I just wanted to use the fact that she can't regenerate to make the doctor feel guilty later maybe? (I'm slightly evil.) I hope to get Jenny in the next chapter. The new doctor who is coming on so tootles for now
Please R&R!
