The doctors told that there's a rapidly growing tumor inside of 11 years old Sawada Tsunayoshi. The doctors predicted he will only able to live until ten months or so. Tsuna proved them wrong when he continued to live for another six years.

He dropped off from school immediately after that. Not quite sad yet not quite happy either, he had never been on a good terms with either the students or teachers alike. The only ones that would ever spare a glance at him were Yamamoto Takeshi and Sasagawa Kyoko, but the former was the school's star player and the latter was a saint so that's to be expected.

Not that Tsuna ever doubt their genuineness but Yamamoto Takeshi sometimes had empty smiles and equally empty eyes when he's among his crowds and Sasagawa Kyoko had deep frowns and clenching her skirt in her first whenever someone wasn't looking. Even when he'd been out from school for a long time, whenever those two appeared in his mind, he hoped whatever bothered them went away.

In plenty other universes, Iemitsu would either be the useless, absent father or the abusive, absent father or worse, both. But not in this universe though. He's still in a way absent, but he made it up with various way of communications available on hand. Post cards, emails, video chats, anything that could make the father-son bond strong and intact. And husband and wife's too, can't forget about that.

It's his 12th birthday, Tsuna's papa was still not there physically but it's the 21st century so they set up the laptop on the living room beside the table which filled with Tsuna's favourite dishes and a cute cake that Tsuna picked himself. The small party was filled with jokes, laughters and silent promises.

It wasn't perfect, but it was good enough.

Reborn came soon right after that in all his dark and menacing glory; courtesy of his papa. Tsuna was pretty spooked at first but warmed up just as fast. It's no use of being scared of him when Reborn teached him firmly but absolutely thorough, more than his actual teachers had ever done. Tsuna knew the teachers weren't that bad in general, it was probably just at him.

Plus it's hard to be intimidated by a man who cuddled with you under the blanket and let you run your mouth nonsensically. Reborn always run his fingers through his wild hair, tugging it gently when Tsuna got too persistent about his questions or talking too fast.

The patting was usually what made him slowly fall asleep, combined with the comfortable warmth provide by the larger body against him and thick blanket. It felt like a makeshift barrier, shielding him from the world. And Tsuna would eventually drifted away, feeling safe and comfortable.

Just the way Reborn loved it.

On one rare day without Reborn (which he's having mix feelings with so he settled by hanging out on the bed and catching up on his manga), he was ambushed by a blond man in military outfit screaming his tutor's name.

Ok not exactly ambushed as the man looked slightly confused as he ran his eyes around the room, but his windows were certainly broken, not that he noticed at first since he was to busy borrowing himself deeper against the wall, hoping for a miracle to happen and the wall to suck him in just so it could hide him from the foreigner.

"Oh are you Reborn's new student, kora?"

He jumped slightly when the loud voice seemed to be just right in front of him and he was shaking way too hard to talk coherently but his mama and papa and Reborn didn't raised a coward so he slowly pulled the comic he was hiding in behind and nodded.

The man didn't say anything for a moment but pushed his body forward, silently assessing him with a raised brow and rubbing fingers under his chin. After one long moment, the man finally pulled away (but still dangerously close) and spoke in Italian, a language Reborn had been trying to drill in him along with few others language.

"Well, it could be worse."

Tsuna didn't hear the click (or the murderous aura) but the man did and he swiftly pulled his head back and a blur of something went past in between them, making a small hole on the wall.

Get away from him, Colonello, or the next one will be in between your eyes instead."

Oh. Reborn's back. He's not alone though.

Reborn came back with a woman with a huge hat who lets him wear it after he stared fascinatedly at, a smiling man wearing red martial art clothes and braided hair and a scary woman who was beating the crap out of the foreign military man.

Luce-san ( "Call me auntie Luce, Tsuna-kun!" ) was kind and gentle in motherly way, just like his own mama. They seem to get along well too! Tsuna felt like he had gained a second mother. Not that he's complaining; preening under the constant attentions and equally delicious meals.

The smiling man introduced himself as Fong and the small girl, Ipin, as his pupil. Ipin had trouble with her Japanese so Tsuna tried to communicate with her with his basic Chinese to make it easier for her. It didn't take long until he gained the nickname gēgē that makes his inside swelled pleasantly and his cheeks heating up, and a little girl who followed him everywhere like a little duckling. Fong-san watched the development with amusement and chuckled every time the two children tried to talk with language not of their own.

And the scary woman was Lal Mirch who happened to be Colonello's step sister. Tsuna watched with bated breath as they moved their fight to the backyard and was both amazed and scared at how the neighbors had yet to file a noise complaint especially when both of them started to pulled our firearms. It's weird how minimal the damages that was left behind.

Reborn pulled him inside and away from the living room until they reached his bedroom. It was quite and peaceful, Lal-san and Colonello-san's ruckus acted as a strangely pleasant background. They laid themselves on the bed but today was not how they normally entangled in. This time, Reborn buried his face in the crook of Tsuna's neck and the boy held the man's head securely in return. This was how they hold each other when Reborn came back from whatever dark place he had been.

This is a rewrite of 'Wishing for Stars'. At first I just wanted to edit some grammars but the old one was pretty charming to me so I made this into a new story instead.
