A/N: In this story Lena and Kara are already in a relationship
Hey I brought it," Alex called as she entered Kara's apartment and set the bottle of wine down.
"Thank you! I have been so busy with figuring out where Lilian has been hiding I completely forgot to grab this. It's Lena's favorite," Kara said with a smile as she hugged her sister.
"Is she on her way home?" Alex asked as she shrugged off her jacket and slung it over a chair.
"She had to work a bit later but she said she would be home as soon as she can," Kara responded as she reached in the fridge to grab Alex a beer.
"Thanks," Alex said as she took the offered beer.
They both glanced towards Kara's phone as it rang, "its Lena."
"Answer it," Alex said with a smirk as she took a sip of her beer.
Kara glared at her as she answered her phone, "Lena hey."
"Hey so I believe I found where mother is hiding," she began.
Kara frowned when she heard a scuffle, "babe?"
"What's wrong?" Alex asked as she set her beer down.
Kara just shrugged, "Lena what's wrong?"
She dropped her phone when she heard Lena scream, "I've got to get to L-Corp," Kara called over her shoulder as she changed into her super suit and flew out the window.
Alex quickly pulled out her phone, "J'onn get agents to L-Corp, Lena's in trouble."
Alex then grabbed her jacket as she raced down the stairs before hopping on her bike and speeding towards L-Corp.
Kara flew as fast as she could, listening to Lena's heartbeat that was beating wildly, she sped up when she heard her screams.
"I've got you," she whispered as she caught her girlfriend.
"Drop something?" Kara asked coldly as she used her freeze breath to knock out the men.
Lena grasped to Kara tighter as Kara carried her towards her couch.
She gently set her down before sitting beside her.
"Supergirl!" Alex shouted as her and a few other DEO agents burst into the room.
"Were okay," Kara answered as she looked towards Lena who still hadn't said a word.
Alex nodded as she and the DEO agents headed to the balcony.
"I'm going to take Lena home," Kara called to Alex as she led Lena towards the door.
Alex headed towards them, "okay we will take care of this and I will just talk to you later."
Lena just gave her a tight smile as she allowed Kara to lead her out the door.
Lena didn't say a single word the entire time as Kara flew them home or when Kara helped her undress and take a shower. Finally when they were both dressed in their pajamas and seated on the couch did she break her silence.
"It was my mother," she said sadly.
Kara turned towards her, "what?"
"She sent those men after me," Lena replied as tears welled up in her eyes.
Kara didn't say anything as she pulled Lena into her lap and held the woman as she cried.
It was eight o clock when Kara's alarm went off, she turned over and hit the button before reaching for Lena, and she frowned when she felt nothing but cold sheets.
"Lena?" Kara called as she made her way towards the kitchen. She frowned when she saw a note by the coffee pot, needed some time alone, be back later. I love you. Lena.
"Oh Lena," Kara said as she set the note down.
"Kara you home?" Alex called as she knocked before entering.
"Hey," Kara mumbled as she went back to typing in her laptop.
"Well hello to you too," Alex feigned hurt as she sat across from her sister.
"Sorry," Kara said as she closed her laptop and gave her sister her attention.
"What's wrong? Where's Lena?" Alex asked as she took notice of her sister's girlfriend being absent.
Kara stood up and retrieved the note before handing it to Alex.
"Oh damn, is she okay?" Alex asked as she handed it back to Kara.
"I don't know she won't answer her phone."
"I'm sorry Kar," Alex said gently as she took her sister's hand.
"I can't believe her mother," Kara said more to herself than Alex.
"What did Lillian do now?" Alex asked.
"She's the one who sent those men after Lena," Kara said as tears formed in her eyes.
"What?! Alex yelled as she jumped up from the chair she was sitting in.
Kara jumped at the sudden outburst.
"Why didn't you tell me this?" Alex asked more calmly.
"She just told me last night," Kara answered, her mind flashing back to last night when she held her girlfriend all night as she cried.
"She could still be in danger, get dressed. We have to get to the DEO," Alex said as she pulled out her phone and called someone.
Kara's heart began to race as she changed into her suit, if something happed to Lena she would never forgive herself.
"You ready?" Alex asked as she hung up her phone.
Kara just nodded as she followed her sister out the door.
"Do we have eyes on Lena?" Alex asked as she stood behind Winn.
"It's like she fell off the earth," Winn answered as he turned towards the DEO agent whose eyes were on the superhero pacing in the corner.
"Find her," Alex ordered as she walked towards her sister.
"Kara?" she asked gently.
"If something happens to her," Kara began but Alex cut her off.
"We will find her."
"I need to get out of here," Kara said as she flew out the window.
"Do you think something happened to Lena?" Winn asked from his spot near the computer.
"I sure hope not," Alex replied as she took a seat next to him.
Kara flew all over National City looking for Lena, she couldn't hear her heartbeat and it scared her more than anything.
"Supergirl, report back to the DEO we may have found something," J'onn said over her earpiece.
Kara flew as fast as she could to the DEO, "where is she?" she asked when she landed.
"Well she's not in National City so that's why I couldn't locate her," Winn said as he pulled something up on the monitor.
"Kara recognized the building as Lex's, "she's there?"
"Well her phone just came back on and it's at this location," Winn started but he didn't get to finish as Kara flew from the building.
"Supergirl!" Alex called as she looked back towards J'onn who looked just as worried.
Kara flew as fast as she could as she strained to hear Lena's heartbeat.
She hovered when she heard it in an abandoned building beating wildly.
"I'm coming," Kara said as she flew towards the building.
1 hour earlier:
"Miss Luther you have a visitor," Jessa said over the intercom.
Lena frowned she loved Kara dearly but she really just needed time to process this, "tell Kara I will be home soon," Lena began but stopped when her door flew open and her mother strode through Jess hot on her heels.
"I'm sorry Miss Luther, I told her to wait," Jess began as she gave Lillian a cold look.
"Its fine Jess you can go home for the day," Lena replied as she stared her mother down.
Sensing the tension Jess bolted for the door closing it behind her.
"Disappointed I'm still alive?" Lena snapped as she closed her file.
"Oh honey that was never my intention," Lillian responded as she went and helped herself to a bottle of scotch that was on Lena's counter.
"Bull," Lena snapped as tears welled up in her eyes.
"Your all I have left, do you really think I want you dead?" Lillian asked as she took a seat across from her daughter.
"I really don't know what to believe," Lena responded coldly as she stood up and went to the door. "Please just go."
Lillian set the glass as she stood up, "of course but you are coming with me."
"Like hell I am," Lena snapped as Cyborg Superman came up behind her and punched her knocking her out cold.
"Sorry it had to go down this way sweetie," Lillian said as she walked pass her unconscious daughter.
"Let me go," Lena snapped as Cyborg Superman dragged her through the building before throwing her in a cage and locking it.
"I will deal with you later," Lillian said coldly as she strode out of the room Hank right behind her.
Lena struggled against the restraints and realized it was useless. "I love you Kara," she whispered as tears fell from her eyes.
Kara flew into the building on high alert she strained to hear anyone else, realizing Lena was alone she entered the room.
"Kara?" Lena asked when she saw her girlfriend.
"Is anyone else here?" Kara asked as she stepped further into the room.
"I don't think so," Lena replied. "Wait look out!" she called out when she saw Hank appear behind Kara.
He threw her against a wall. Lena cried out as her girlfriend lay limp on the ground.
"Time to die alien scum," Hank seethed as he walked towards the fallen superhero.
"Don't you hurt her!" Lena screamed as she struggled to break free from her restraints.
Kara struggled to get up and Hank kicked her hard sending her flying through a brick wall.
"You're going to want to see this," Hank seethed as he pulled out a knife carved out of kryptonite.
"No please," Lean cried out as she finally broke free and ran towards Hank who just shoved her aside.
He pulled Kara up by her neck as he plunged the knife into her abdomen before throwing her aside and walking away.
"No please God no," Lena cried out as she went to her girlfriend who was struggling to breath.
"Lena!" Alex called out as she and the rest of the DEO burst into the building.
They all stopped cold when they saw Supergirl's lifeless body.
"She's dead," Lena said as tears streamed down her face.
"No she can't be," Alex cried out as she rushed to her sister and began CPR. "Get her to the med bay!" Alex cried out.
Lena allowed herself to be pulled away as a med team loaded up Supergirl and raced her back to the DEO.
Lena and Alex paced the halls of the DEO for what felt like days but was only hours before they got word of Kara. They both raced towards the Dr., when they heard the doors open.
"Well?" Alex asked as her hands shook.
"We lost her a few times, but we were able to stabilize her," the Dr. began.
"So what does that mean?" Lena asked fear evident in her voice causing Alex to reach over and take her hand.
"We wait," the Dr. responded before turning on his heel and disappearing back into the med room.
"Oh my God," Lena cried out as she began sobbing.
"She will be okay," Alex tried to assure her as she rubbed her back.
"This is my fault," Lena cried out as she fell to the floor.
"Hey stop no it's not, it's your bitch mothers," Alex said with a hint of a smirk as she squeezed Lena's hand.
Lena couldn't help but smile back as she hugged Alex tightly.
A week later:
"Kara baby you need to rest," Lena argued with her girlfriend when she noticed Kara trying to sneak into the kitchen.
"Lena I'm fine really," Kara argued as she pouted before falling back towards the couch.
"You died," Lena said sadly as she brought her girlfriend some soup and her favorite Gatorade.
Kara reached over and kissed Lena gently, "but I came back."
"I didn't know what I would have done if I lost you," Lena said as she began to cry.
"I'm not going anywhere," Kara said as she scooped her up and led them to the bed.
"I love you so much," Lena sobbed into her girlfriends shoulder.
"I love you just as much," Kara replied as she rubbed her back soothingly.
"I felt your heartbeat," Lena mumbled into Kara's shoulder.
Kara smiled as she cupped Lena's face and kissed her deeply.
"I heard yours and that is why I knew I had to come back. As long as it is still beating I will always catch you."
