"Emma?" Regina shook the blonde's shoulder. "Emma!" She practically yelled. Suddenly the younger woman shot up in bed breathless and shaking. In a matter of seconds, she was in the corner of the room, sitting with her forehead on her knees, crying silently.
Regina stood and slowly kneeled in front of her. "Baby, what happened?" The little girl looked up, tears staining her cheeks. "I had a nightmare. Mommy, I'm scared." Regina pulled the child into her lap and rocked her slowly.
"It's okay, now. Mommy's here." Regina reassured. "Do you want to talk about it?" Emma nodded. "It was dark in my room and suddenly someone appeared and tried to hurt me. I couldn't see who it was."
Regina held her daughter tightly. "Nobody will ever hurt you, my darling! I'll protect you." Regina promised. "Do you want to sleep in my room for the rest of the night?"
Emma smiled and nodded. Her mother brushed a tear away from her face and carried her towards her bedroom.
Soon after that both mother and daughter were fast asleep in each other's arms. Both had a smile on there face and neither one of them had ever felt so safe as in that moment.
