I ONLY OWN KLARIZA

Chapter 1: The Day Before

My name's Klariza Selina Mercer. I'm 16 years old and I'm adopted. I know what your thinking when my parents last name is Mason why is mine Mercer?

My adopted parents decided that I was going to keep my birth name. I love my adopted parents but I want to meet my birth parents. I was raised in Washington D.C. but was born in England.

But enough of that you should know more about me. I love sports I do every sport except for hockey, football, wrestling, and golf. My favorite color is red, I love plays, and I'm very creative.

I have long brown hair that goes to my mid-back, brown eyes, and I'm tan. I was wearing my hair in a messy ponytail with a braid on each side that also wrapped around and kept my ponytail up. But I also put a black pony tail holder in it to keep it up.

I had on my school jersey for soccer that said Mercer had the number 8 on it, jean shorts, and my purple sneakers. My school's colors are purple and white and our mascot is the huskies.

Today was my last day at Washington High School. It was in the morning when I walked downstairs when I had noticed that was wrong. I was eating my breakfast when my mother came down.

She said, "Morning Riza. Last day of school. You excited?" I said, "Morning Mom. Yeah I'm so excited I'm going to England for boarding school. Is everything okay? You seem off?"

She said, "Yeah I'm fine. Your father and I are coming to your Championship soccer game. Do you have a bag to bring everything home?" I said, "Yeah I'm bringing an extra duffle bag to school. Can you drive me to school today?"

My mother said, "Sure thing Riza. Can you feed the cats?" I said, "Sure mom."

I walked over to where we kept the cat food and feed both of the cats and then grabbed my bags for school and my mother grabbed the car keys and we walked out to the car.

Once we got in and my mother started towards school. I said, "I can't believe I'm going to be leaving Washington D.C. for school. I'll miss you and Dad." She said, "Well miss you to Klariza. Did you send all of your art supplies ahead of you?" I said, "Yeah I did."

When she pulled up to the school she said, "We'll see you later Riza. Have a good last day." I said, "I will." I got out all my bags and walked to my locker where a paper said WE'LL MISS YOU KLARIZA!

All my friends had signed it and all of the people who were on the sports team with me and my teachers and coaches. I couldn't help but smile. I opened my locker and I opened it and started to take everything out. Once everything was in my extra duffle bag. I heard my best friend Avery say, "Hey Klariza." I turned around and said, "Hey Avery. What's wrong your sparkle's gone?" She said, "It's just that I'm going to miss you." We hugged and I said, "Av just because I'm going to a different school doesn't mean I'll forget you."

I opened my wallet and handed her a copy of the picture that we had taken recently and handed it to her and said, "Here take this. I know it's just a picture but when I'm in England you can have a picture of me."

The bell rang and I went to home room. Avery and I had been best friends since we were three. We were apart of different cliques now but we were still best friends. She was with the photography kids and I was with the jocks and popular kids but I was still the same I always was.

I'm really smart for a jock though and I was going to this school on a scholarship. When school ended I was excited for the soccer games. All the girls were getting changed into out uniforms. I had gotten changed and kept my hair how it was.

The coach then came out and said, "Okay girls this is going to be a hard game. Not only because it's the championship but since we're going to be losing one of our own. Klariza Mercer is going to be leaving us so this is going to be our captains final game as a husky. So Klariza you'll take it from here."

I said, "Thanks Coach Bishop. Okay as you guys know as team captain I get to chose the new one. And this was such a hard choice But Mia you're the new team captain. I love you all and this is my last game so let's kick the ravens butts. LET'S DO THIS HUSKIES."

We all got out and the game began in the end we won the championship. Mia then said, "Hey Riza you want to go out with the rest of the team?" I said, "I'm sorry but I'm going to spend some time with my parents since I'm leaving tomorrow."

Alex then walked over and said, "Come on. Klariza we're going to get ice cream." I said, "Alright just let me tell my parents." I got changed back into my clothes and put on a purple school shirt and walked out of the locker room.

My mother said, "Good you Klariza. You girls did awesome." I said, "Thanks mom. The girls and I are going out for ice cream so can I meet you guys home?"

My dad said, "Sure Klariza." I handed them my stuff and made sure that my phone was in my pocket and then went to meet up with the girls. We went to Friendly's and after we ate. The coach said, "I'll be right back girls."

We continued talking and then the coach came back with the waiter. He sat down and the waiter put down a cake that said Good Luck Klariza. I said, "Really guys? I think I might cry."

My friend Kate said, "Klariza don't. We're just going to miss you so much. I can't believe that your going to an England Boarding school. What's it's called again?"

I said, "Frobisher Academy." The waiter cut the cake and we all had a piece. I said, "Thanks guys you're the best. And I'm not going to forget about you guys ever. I'm bringing a picture of all the teams I'm on. And I'll text you guys all the time." We we're walking out when the coach said, "Girls let's take a group picture for Klariza."

We all huddled together and the coach took the photo and said, "Klariza I'll email it to you." I said, "Thanks coach. I got to go." She said, "Do you need a ride?" I said, "No I'll walk. I don't life far from here."

I started the walk home and pulled my phone out of my pocket and texted my mother and father saying, On the way home. Love you guys so much. ~Klariza.

When I got home I walked in the door and my mother said, "Good you're here. Do you need anything else for school?" I said, "No I sent everything ahead of me. Mom I'll be fine."

She said, "Okay your father and I have a surprise for you. We're going to the Smithsonian and Holocaust museums." I said, "No way." My father said, "We are just grab your purse and we'll head over." I walked up stairs and grabbed my purse and walked home.

We head out and went to the museums. By the time that we got home. I saw another car in the drive way. I said, "Hey isn't that Grandma and Grandpa's car?" My father said, "Yes it is. They came over from the last day that you we're going to be home and they might stay over."

I said, "Okay." When Dad parked the car and I ran over to Gran and Gramps and said, "Gran! Gramps!" I hugged them and said, "It's so good to see you." They hugged me and said, "You to Klariza. Let's go inside." I said, "Okay I unlocked the door and we walked in. We just stayed talking until my mother said, "I hate to be mean but Klariza you have and an early flight tomorrow and your going to need your sleep."

I said, "Okay Mom." I walked over to everyone and hugged them and said Good night. I then walked up to my bedroom and changed into my pj's for tonight which was an old t-shirt and pajama shorts.

I made sure that everything was in my suitcases and put my book if I stay in my carry on with my ipod and then I went to bed.
