A/N: This will be the first time Kara gets affected by Red Kryptonite; also she and Lena are already in a relationship.
Lena quickened her pace as she raced home. It had been a busy and crappy day at L-Corp and she was just ready to get home and into the loving arms of her girlfriend. She was broken out of her thoughts when someone knocked her over sending her purse flying across the pavement.
"My bad," the guy called over his shoulder as he continued walking.
"Are you kidding me?" Lena snapped as she gathered her things and rubbed at her sore knee that had begun to bleed.
She beamed when she finally made it to her girlfriend's apartment, she fished out the key Kara made for her and let herself in.
"Kara!?" Lena called as she set her purse down before kicking off her heels.
"Lena!" Kara called as she rushed towards her girlfriend and pulled her into a hug.
Lena laughed as she returned the hug. "How was your day?"
"It was okay, James still has me running errands but hopefully one day I can surprise him with a good story," Kara said all in one breath as she led her girlfriend towards the couch.
Lena just smiled as she followed along limping slightly from her sore knee.
"Oh my gosh, what happened to your knee?" Kara asked as she lifted Lena's leg and laid it across her own so she could examine it.
"It's nothing, just tripped," Lena mumbled.
"I'm going to get some bandages," Kara said as she gently moved Lena's leg before disappearing into the bathroom.
Lena beamed as she watched her go, she had never met someone who had cared so much about her or who loved her as much as she loved them. It always seemed that in her past relationships she was always more invested or she always seemed to love them more but with Kara it was different. Kara always put Lena first and proved time and time again she loved her just as much.
"Okay I got everything," Kara said as she lifted Lena's leg and set in on her own, she gently cleaned and banged the wound before leaning down and placing a light kiss on the wound.
"I love you," Lena whispered as she swooned at the display.
Kara looked up and beamed, "I love you too. How about I run you a hot bath so you can relax?"
"Under one condition," Lena said as she smiled at Kara who was absent mildly massing her leg.
"Okay," Kara said with a smile.
"You join me."
"I can do that," Kara replied as she set Lena's leg down before standing up and leading Lena towards the bathroom.
Lena finally let herself relax as she leaned into Kara as the warm water surrounded them.
"Are you starting to feel a little better?" Kara asked as she placed a kiss behind Lena's ear.
"So much better," Lena replied as she turned and placed a chaste kiss to Kara's lips.
Lena found herself staring as she watched Kara dry off, sure her alien girlfriend was hot but she was so much more than that to Lena. She found herself always watching all the small things Kara did such as how she always seemed to be humming along to a tune only she knew or how she always seemed to have a smile on her face, how much she cared for her friends and family and how she would do anything in the world for them. How she could never hurt anyone even if they deserved it sometimes.
"Lena are you okay?" Kara asked as she subconsciously wrapped the towel around herself.
"I have never been better," Lena answered as she walked over to her girlfriend and unwrapped the towel letting it fall to the floor.
"What's on your mind?" Kara asked as she bit her lip and she studied her girlfriend.
"You're so beautiful," Lena answered as she kissed Kara deeply.
Kara smiled into the kiss as she picked Lena up and led her to the bed; she set her down gently as she crawled on top of her.
"So are you," Kara said sweetly as she leaned down and placed a kiss to Lena's forehead.
"I love you so much," Lena said as she cupped Kara's cheeks.
"I love you too," Kara responded as she leaned down and kissed the woman she loved with everything she had.
Lena awoke with a start she immediately reached for Kara and frowned when she felt cold sheets; she reached for her phone and saw she had a text from Alex.
Alex: There was an emergency Kara wanted me to text you so you didn't worry .
Lena laughed as she set her phone down and got up to make herself some coffee, she turned on the news as background noise as she made her way to the coffee pot.
"Supergirl saves the day once again!" she heard the news caster say.
She smiled as she set another cup out for her girlfriend who would hopefully appear soon once she was done with the DEO.
Kara flew into her apartment and ran and hand through her hair, she felt weird ever since returning back from the fire but she couldn't quit figure out what was wrong.
"Hey your home," Lena beamed as she handed her a cup of coffee.
"Yeah thanks," Kara mumbled as she set it down before walking off towards the bathroom.
Lena frowned, that was weird she thought as she went to get dressed.
Kara quickly peeled off her suit before jumping in the shower and washing off all the grime. She shut off the water before drying off and walked naked back to her room.
Lena gasped as she turned to see her girlfriend naked standing in front of her.
"Come here," Kara said as she motioned Lena towards her.
"I I uhh have to go to work," Lena stammered as she made her way towards her girlfriend.
"Work can wait," Kara purred in Lena's ear as she nibbled on it.
"What's gotten in to you?" Lena asked as Kara ran her hands all over Lena before grabbing her ass and lifting her up.
"What I can't want you?" Kara asked innocently as she pushed Lena's skirt up.
Lena could no longer form words as she felt Kara's lips on her thigh so close to where she really wanted her.
"Kara please," Lena begged as she felt Kara's fingers rubbing her clit through her underwear.
"As you wish," Kara responded as she pushed Lena's panties aside and began eating her out like she was a meal.
"Wow," both woman breathed out as they both collapsed on the bed after and intense love making session.
"Worth being late to work for?" Kara asked with a smirk.
"For sure," Lena replied as she leaned over and kissed her lover passionately.
"Miss Luther your meeting has been waiting for forty five minutes," Jess said as she followed Lena towards her office.
"My apologies umm family emergency," Lena mumbled as she went to open the door.
"Miss Luther," Jess called before she opened the door.
"Yes?" Lena asked as she turned towards her assistant who was trying to avoid eye contact.
"You umm have a hickey," Jess said as she motioned towards Lena's neck.
Lena turned bright red as she ran towards the bathroom to cover it up.
Jess just laughed as she returned to her desk.
"You're late," Snapper snapped as Kara walked in.
"I'm here now aren't I?" Kara snapped back causing some of her coworkers to gasp.
"What the hell did you just say to me Danvers?" Snapper asked as he stood up anger clear on his face.
"You heard me," Kara challenged him right back.
"Kara a word," James said as he happened to overhear the exchange.
"Fine," Kara seethed as she broke eye contact with her boss and stormed off.
"Okay what is going on?" James asked as he took a seat on the edge of his desk.
"I'm sick of the way he treats me," Kara snapped as she turned towards the door and continued to glare angrily in Snapper's direction.
"Kara this isn't you," James began but stopped when Kara whirled around and fixed him with a look of pure hatred.
"You don't know a damn thing about me Jimmie Olsen," she snapped as she stormed out and slammed the door behind her causing the glass to shatter.
Meanwhile across town Lena was finished up her meeting when she heard Jess over the intercom.
"Miss Luther you have a visitor," she said.
"Send them in."
James walked into the office a look of concern on his face.
"James?" Lena asked shocked. Of all the people in the world he was the last person she was expecting to see.
James didn't say anything as he took a seat across from her.
"What can I do for you?" Lena finally asked when she realized James wasn't going to speak.
"Have you noticed anything off about Kara?" he asked gently.
Lena's mind quickly flashed to their sex marathon this morning and she blushed before speaking, "not really why?"
"She went off on Snapper and me this morning before storming out and destroying my office," James said with a sigh.
"She wouldn't do that," Lena said as she crossed over to her counter to pour herself a glass of water.
"Look I know what I saw," James snapped.
Lena whirled around fire in her eyes, "I know my girlfriend and she wouldn't do something like that."
"And I know my friend something is off," James said as he stood and let himself out.
Lena seethed with anger, she tried to get along with James for Kara's sake but sometimes he made it so damn hard.
"Jess cancel my meetings I'm heading home," Lena told her assistant as she gathered her things and headed home.
"Kara?! Lena called as she set her purse down and entered the apartment.
"You're home early," Kara purred as she came from the bedroom dressed in only one of Lena's business jackets. She looked like sex on a stick and Lena had to take a deep breath before speaking.
"Kara are you sure you're okay?"
"Of course. Why wouldn't I be?" Kara asked as she walked towards Lena her hips swaying.
"I uh James he uh," Lena started but stopped when she saw the anger that flashed in Kara's eyes at the mention of his name.
"James needs to mind his fucking business," Kara snapped.
"Kara," Lena began, but Kara was quick to cut her off.
"Why are you taking his side?!" Kara yelled.
Lena jumped, "I'm not."
"He told me I was crazy for being with you, told me it wouldn't last, that you are nothing but a Luther," Kara snapped.
Lena's heart broke at every word coming out of her mouth.
"Maybe he was right," Kara spat out.
"Well if that's how you feel then go," Lena cried out.
"Aww she does cry," Kara said as she wiped away a tear.
"Don't touch me!" Lena screamed as she slapped her hand away.
"You're pathetic," Kara said with a smile as she walked towards the window and flew out.
Lena cried herself to sleep that night.
"Miss Luther there is an agent Danvers here to see you," Jess said over the intercom.
Lena signed, "Let her in."
"Hey," Alex said as she took a seat across from Lena.
"What can I help you with?" Lena snapped as she pretended to be focused on her work.
"Umm I came to ask if you knew what was wrong with Kara?" Alex answered taking notice of Lena's apparent sadness.
"Wouldn't know," Lena snapped. "Do you need anything else? I have work to do."
"Lena what's wrong?" Alex asked gently.
"Kara broke up with me okay, James was right it wouldn't last," Lena said as she tried not to cry.
"Fuck James!" Alex yelled. "He's just jealous Kara chose you."
Lena looked up, "what?"
"James was so in love with her, but she told him she loved you, he lost it," Alex explained.
Lena allowed a quick smile to appear before she went back to neutral, "well it doesn't matter its over."
"Lena," Alex began.
"Please go," Lena said as she focused back on her paperwork.
Alex cast one last glance at the broken woman before deciding to find her sister and knocking some sense into her.
"Has anyone seen Supergirl?" Alex asked as she entered the DEO.
"Her coms are off," Winn replied as he turned to face the other agent.
"Damn it," Alex muttered.
"What's wrong?" J"onn asked.
"I had a talk with Lena apparently Kara broke up with her," Alex snapped.
"What?! Winn screamed but then turned away when everyone stared at him.
"Something is wrong with her, she loves Lena I know she does," Alex persisted.
J'onn remained silent as he watched Alex.
"Winn find her," Alex snapped but turned when she heard a crash near the window.
"Heard you're looking for me," Kara seethed.
"Kara what are you wearing?" Alex asked as she took in her sister's sleek black suit.
"Needed a change that other suit was pathetic," Kara said as she took in the looks of all the shocked DEO agents.
"Are you okay?" Winn asked gently from his seat at the computer.
"Why is everyone asking me that?!" Kara yelled as her eyes flashed red.
"Whoa," Alex said as she grabbed her gun.
"What are you going to shoot me?" Kara taunted as she stepped menially towards her sister.
"Supergirl stand down," Alex demanded.
"As if you could stop me," Kara said ignoring her.
Kar," Alex said but was caught off guard by Supergirl's speed as she raced towards her sister taking her gun and throwing her against the wall.
"Alex!" Winn called out as he raced towards the fallen agent.
Kara laughed, "as if any of you could stop me."
"Stand down now!" J'onn said as he stepped towards her.
Kara just laughed as she used her heat vison to destroy the computers before taking off into the night sky.
"I can't believe she did this," Winn said sadly as he looked at the destroyed computers.
"Something is wrong with her," Alex said as she rubbed her sore head and back.
"Red Kryptonite," J"onn spoke up.
"What's that?" Winn asked as he grabbed his tablet and frowned when he saw it was also scorched.
"I thought it was destroyed," J'onn said more to himself.
"J'onn what is it?" Alex snapped.
Before he could answer they all heard a gasp, "Lena?" Alex asked when they turned and saw the CEO standing there.
"Did Kara do this?" she asked as tears welled up in her eyes.
They all nodded before turning back to J'onn who cleared his throat.
"Red Kryptonite is very dangerous instead of weaking them it makes them stronger, angrier, they can't control their thoughts or emotions. Every bad thought they ever had just pours out of their mouth."
Lena frowned, "so deep down she meant every word?"
"Hey stop, my sister loves you a lot, screw what James put in her head," Alex assured her.
Lena shot her a grateful smile.
"We have to find her, Alex gather a team," J'onn said as he transformed.
Alex just nodded as she turned and shouted orders.
James was hard at work on an article when he heard a whoosh and soft feet landing on his balcony.
Kara sauntered into his office and leaned against the door, "I see you fixed the windows."
James stood up, "did you talk to Lena?"
Kara smirked, "I dumped her."
James frowned, "what?"
"Isn't that what you wanted?" Kara asked as she walked closer to the reporter.
"No of course not," James said as he tried to take a step back but was up against his desk.
"You were right it would have never worked, she's just another Luther," Kara spit out.
"You love her," James tried to say.
"And you love me," Kara countered as she ran her hand up his arm smirking as he shuddered at her touch.
"It doesn't, matter," James argued.
"Answer the question Olson," Kara whispered in his ear as she grabbed his hand.
"Yes I love you," he whispered back.
"I bet you're glad I broke up with Lena then," Kara responded as she cupped his face.
James refused to make eye contact, he knew something was wrong with the superhero but the way she was looking at him he forced himself not care especially when he felt Kara's lips so close to his own.
"Do you want to kiss me James?" Kara whispered inches from his lips.
"Yes," he answered.
Kara laughed in his face as she stepped back, "sorry I don't kiss losers," she spat out as she took off into the sky.
James watched her go feeling his heart break at her cold words.
"Anyone got eyes on Supergirl?" Alex asked as her eyes scanned the night sky.
"Negative," Winn responded from the DEO van which was parked near where Alex, Maggie, J'onn and other DEO agents were assembled.
Everyone jumped when they heard a huge crash behind them.
"Kara?" Alex asked gently when she saw her sister standing behind them her eyes full of pure hatred.
"You just don't give up do you?" Kara seethed in anger.
"Not on you," Alex shot back.
Kara just laughed, "Please you would jump at the chance to be Eliza's favorite. Hell I'm not even her blood and yet she loves me more and it just kills you."
"Kara!" Maggie yelled, but Kara ignored her.
"Aww are you going to cry?" Kara asked as she saw tears welling up in her sister's eyes.
"This isn't you," Alex whispered as she choked back tears.
"I have never been more me," Kara spat back.
"Supergirl you need to stand down and return to the DEO," J'onn said.
"Are you going to make me?" Kara shot back as the red lines appeared on her face.
"Oh God," Alex whispered.
"Everyone get out of here," J'onn said as the agents scattered.
"I'm not leaving my sister," Alex said as she stared Kara down.
"Alex," Maggie began.
"I'm not leaving," Alex said as she continued to watch Kara.
Maggie just nodded as she squeezed Alex's hand and went to the van.
"Is she okay?" Lena asked from her spot next to Winn.
"I don't know," Maggie answered as they watched the cameras.
"You really think your all high and mighty?" Kara teased as she circled her sister and J'onn.
"I told you I would never give up on you and I won't," Alex shot back.
Kara just laughed, "Funny that's what Lena used to say yet where is she?"
"Right here," Lena said as she appeared behind Alex.
"Lena get out of here!" Alex scolded her.
"No I love her too and I'm not going anywhere," Lena shot back.
Alex just nodded as she turned back towards Kara who was watching them intently.
"So what's it going to be?" J'onn asked as he stepped towards Supergirl who was staring at him as if she was seeing him for the first time.
Kara didn't say anything as she striked hitting him so hard he crashed into the van and slumped down unconscious.
"J'onn!" Alex called as she and Lena ran towards the fallen agent.
"One down," Kara said with a smirk.
Alex pulled out her gun and pointed it towards her sister, "Don't make me do this."
Kara shot towards her and grabbed the gun before grabbing Alex's arm and breaking it.
Alex cried out in pain as Kara tossed her aside.
"Alex!" Maggie called as she ran to her injured girlfriend.
"Two down," Kara taunted as she looked towards Lena who had a look of pure horror on her face.
"Kara please," Lena begged.
Kara just smirked as she walked towards her, "you're hotter when you're scared.
Lena braced for impact as Kara grabbed her neck, "you had a good run Luther," Kara began but stopped when Lena pulled out a gun carrying the cure and shot her.
"Sorry babe," Lena said as Kara dropped to the ground.
Kara slowly opened her eyes and looked around as her eyes adjusted to the bright lights of the med bay in the DEO.
"Kara?" Alex asked gently as she walked towards her sister.
Kara broke down as she saw her sister bloodied and holding her broken arm that was currently in a sling.
"Hey shh it's okay," Alex said as she ran her fingers through Kara's hair.
"Oh God Alex I'm so sorry," Kara sobbed as she slowly began to remember everything she did.
"Hey it's okay it wasn't you," Alex assured her.
"It was though it's like everything I ever thought just shot out of my mouth but I didn't meant it."
"I know you didn't," Alex said.
"I was so horrible to you and everyone," Kara sobbed as she tried to take a breath.
"Just calm down okay," Alex said.
"Where's Lena?" Kara asked as she noticed her girlfriend was nowhere in sight.
"L-Corp," Alex answered.
Kara broke down again, "she must hate me, I was so horrible to her."
"She loves you, just talk to her," Alex assured her as she rubbed her back.
Lena was trying her best to get some work but was finding it hard to concentrate as her mind kept drifting back to Kara and all the things she said to her. Did she really think all that deep down? Did she regret choosing herself over James? Lena tried not to cry as she rubbed her eyes and pushed the papers away.
Kara stood outside Lena's office for what felt like hours, she hurt Lena more than anyone and she wasn't sure how to approach the woman she loved more than anything. She didn't have time to think when the door opened and Lena walked out not noticing the superhero.
Lena was engrossed in her phone as she walked right pass Kara and headed towards the elevator.
Kara just signed as she walked away without a word.
It had been a week since the Red Kryptonite incident and Kara still hadn't reached out to Lena, she apologized to her sister, the DEO, and James but when it came to Lena she just couldn't do it. She hated herself for what she said to her and was sure Lena did to.
She was broken out of her thoughts when she felt a hand on her shoulder, "hey you okay?" James asks.
"I'm fine," Kara replied as she shot him a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes.
"You will get over her soon," James said as he tried to wrap his arms around her.
"I don't want to get over her; I love her so damn much it actually hurts not being near her!" Kara yelled at him as she pushed him away.
"James leave," Lena said as she appeared behind the other man.
James jumped as he turned to see the CEO standing behind him fire in her eyes.
"Lena?" Kara gasped as she smiled at the CEO she missed so dearly.
Lena smiled back, "James do I need to repeat myself?"
James glared at her before turning and letting himself out.
"Lena I'm," Kara began but Lena cut her off.
"I have been torturing myself wondering if you met what you said," when Kara went to speak Lena held her hand up silencing the hero. "But I know you and I know you love me as much as I love you."
"Of course I do," Kara said sweetly.
Lena smiled, "but it will take some time for me to forgive you," Lena said honestly as she tried not to cry at the painful gasp that fell from Kara's lips. "I love you Kara but it hurt like hell."
Kara tried not to cry as she just nodded her head.
"So can you just give me space please?"
Kara finally let the tears fall as she nodded, and a painful "yes," fell from her lips.
Lena quickly kissed Kara's lips before turning and walking out the door.
It had been almost two weeks since Kara had talked to or seen Lena and it was killing her. She missed her so much; she missed her voice, her smile, the way she would always pull her close in the middle of the night. She just missed her and it hurt like hell not seeing her.
"Earth to Kara," Alex said as she threw a pen at her sister.
"Huh?" Kara asked as she noticed Alex, J'onn, Winn and James staring at her.
Alex frowned she knew her sister was missing the CEO, and she wished Lena would at least either break up with her or fix whatever was broken between them.
"I asked you if you wanted to go to the bar with us?" Alex asked gently.
Kara looked between her friends who looking back at her with nothing but pity in their eyes.
"No I'm good," Kara said as she turned and flew out the window.
"She will be okay," Alex assured everyone.
Kara decided to walk by L-Corp technically she was still giving Lena space is she didn't talk to her; she stopped when she heard a gasp and what sounded like a struggle.
"You need to leave," Lena told the man who was coming towards her with a knife.
"Oh yeah you planning on stopping me," he said with a sneer as he rushed towards her.
Lena screamed, as she closed her eyes and braced for pain, but opened them when she heard a scuffle and saw the man being thrown against a wall.
"Are you okay?" Kara asked gently as she took a small step closer afraid she would startle her (ex)?
"I'm fine," Lena answered heartbroken at the pain she saw in Kara's eyes, she knew she was the cause but she was just hurt and now she didn't know how to fix it.
"Well I will just go after I call Maggie," Kara said as she pulled out her phone.
Lena knew this was her opening or she might lose her forever, "please come home with me."
Kara nearly dropped her phone as her eyes finally found Lena's, "are you sure?"
"I can't lose you," Lena whispered as tears welled up in her eyes.
"You never did," Kara said as she wiped them away.
"Take me home Supergirl," Lena said as she wrapped her arms around the hero.
"With pleasure," Kara said with a smile as she pulled her close and flew them home.
