Alex looked up at the flop of paper landing on his desk. He had been granted Ian's office-only directly after missions as he wasn't legally employed yet-so he could do his reports.

"This is Ian's file." Crowley informed the teenager.

Alex pulled a face."Why?" Why would Crowley care? What, is it ploy to gain Alex's trust?

"I was partnered with Ian on multiple occasions. He talked about you, some. Ian wanted you wanted you to have a choice in whether you became a spy or a normal life, but he also didn't want you to be a lamb to be led to the slaughter." The spy paused and drummed his fingers on his leg. "Since he's not here and I can't do anything to help your situation...Well, I thought you might like to read this." Crowley explained and gestured to the file.

Alex looked down and flipped to the first page.

Name:I* R*

Birthday*

Status:Deceased

Relatives:J* R* (brother, deceased), Helen R* (sister-in-law, deceased), A* R* (nephew)

The summary of Ian's life was blacked out.

Alex looked back up. A small smile made its way onto the teen's lips."Thanks Crawls." Alex teased.

"You're welcome, 'Lexie.Have fun reading mission reports in a stuffy room." The spy joked.

Alex snorted. "I'll be sure to."

After the door clicked closed behind Crowley, the teen started on something MI6 related that he actually chose to do.

Alex read through several pages of SAS related papers, such as check ups and missions. Then the teenage spy hit a jackpot. His uncle's first big mission as a SAS rookie by the name of Cougar.

Operation:NIMROD

Date:May 5th, 1980-May 6th/1980

It was authorized by Home Secretary William Whitelaw at 1858 hours.

Alex gaped for a second, he had learned about this in school. "Operation Nimrod? Wasn't that with the terrorists in the Iranian Embassy? Uncle Ian was involved?" The teen muttered to himself. He thenread the mission report. Many of the details were blacked out and thus illegible.

The report was written by Tiger, the team leader.

In the aftermath of the overthrow of the Shah of Iran by forces loyal to Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, six disaffected Iranians protesting the new theocratic government stormed the Iranian embassy at Princes Gate in London, England, April 30, 1980, seizing 26 hostages. The terrorists were members of the Democratic Revolutionary Front for the Liberation of Arabistan (DRFLA) led by one Oan Ali Mohammed.

The room was loud, full of men talking, playing card games, and watching tv.

A roar of excitement came from the tv watchers as Thorburn won. Ian glanced over.

"Ha! Hey Horse, you owe me." Frog declared and nudged the man who sat next to him.

Horse, a Irish man, rolled his eyes but payed up.

Ian shook his head and returned to his poker game. "Check." He said and knocked against the table.

Ian shifted nervously, his nerves were getting to him. A dozen or so men shifted uneasily on the roof. About half of the group was repelling down the side.

"Calm down Cougar." Chameleon said and elbowed Ian. The nineteen year old was pale with green eyes. He was a greenie-like Ian-but seemed to not have any nerves.

"Yeah, we'll be fine, mate." Frog chimed in. The man was tall, lean, and had a constant grin.

"Definitely." Chameleon agreed.

"Because for our team, everything goes off without a hitch." Ian sarcastically shot back.

The first mission they had gone on came to the team's mind. They had bungled it, horribly. The only thing they had done right was keep the kidnapped kid from dying.

Monkey laughed."He's got you there."

Tiger rolled his eyes."Everyone shut up."The irritate leader ordered. Tiger thenpressed the talk button."This is Red Team. We're in position." The Red leader stated.

"Copy that, Red. Blue Team is in position." Moth, the Blue leader replied.

"Ready?" Tiger asked and gave a cursory glance over his team. The men nodded in reply.

"Red Team moving in." Tiger report.

"Copy that, Red Team. Blue team moving in." Moth responded.

Atabout 4.5 meters from the balcony, Chameleon got tangled in his gear.Frog and Monkey tried to cut Chameleon loose, to no avail.

The flash bangs the group had thrown in then exploded and set fire to the curtains below the tangled up man.

Frog and Monkey quickly moved away from the fire.

The paranoia of checking and clearing rooms started for all SAS members inside. "Turtle, clear." "Monkey, clear.""Horse, clear.""Cat, clear."

Ian climbed up his abseiling rope. The slight burn in his muscles was a familar comfort in the dangerous situation.

"Take cover!" Came a faint yell from the front side of the Embassy.

The flames licked up and burned Chameleon. He shifted uneasily and winced at the heat. The man was well and truly stuck in a deadly position.

"Stay calm. Stay calm. I'm going to get you out of this. You're not going to die." Ian stated.

"I'm going to cut your loose, I need you to hold onto and put most of your weight on me." Ian instructed. Chameleon nodded and clasped Ian in a bear hug as best as he could.

Cougar pulled out a knife and started sawing.Ian flinched as the flames inched closer to them.

Below them, Frog and Monkey had descended, and stood along with two others, ready to catch Chameleon.

Chamelon's rope broke.

Cougar lowered himself and Chamelon part of the way down and the later ungracefully fell onto the waiting men.

Alex turned the page.

Next was a 1988 file on Ian Rider, written by Alan Blunt. Alex read through it twice to understand the legalese and implied meanings. Because of his successful SAS missions, Ian was offered MI6 employment.

Ian Rider's signature on a contract with MI6 was on the next page.

Ian watched Alex sleep. The baby had small wisps of blond hair, cute cheeks, and chubby arms and legs.

The SAS member didn't know what to do. He was on leave for now, but he would have to return in a month or quit. If he quit, how would he provide for Alex?

Then came a knock on the door.

Ian got up and grabbed a gun before he checked the door.

On his doorstep, stood a man dressed in a gray suit with a neutral expression.

Ian opened the door. The man was bad news, but not of the immediately deadly sort.

"I'll get to the point." The man said bluntly.

"Since Nimrod, MI6 has kept an eye on you."

"What can you offer that I don't already have?" Ian snarked.

The man's lips curled up slightly. He had him right where he wanted him."Protection for your nephew." Came the even response.

Ian narrowed his eyes, but stepped to the side. "Come on in."

In that moment, Ian wondered if he'd regret inviting the human version of the devil inside his house. He most likely would, but that wasn't important now. What was more important was ensuring the survival of his nephew.

Prompt:"An Alex rider style story, most likely with an OC due to the fact Alex wouldn't be alive, set within Operation Nimrod."

Several parts of this were fictional, others are not.

Instead of an OC, I used Uncle Ian. He would be around 20 at the time, and we barely know anything about his life.

My thanks to whoever came up with this prompt, it's very interesting.
