The English assignment

Mr Berty addressed the class. 'The Assignment was to write about the feelings of Romeo after he found out that Juliet had died. Most of you did really well, one or two of you completely missed the point, Mr Newton I'm referring to you, I don't think his vexation on whom Romeo is going to get to do his laundry are really appropriate. One of you got completely to the heart of what I asked of you. I was so impressed with the depth of feeling I read, that I'm going to read it to the class now.

"Romeo stared at Balthasar, unable to comprehend what his loyal servant was telling him. 'What are you talking about, she can't be dead. You must be mistaken. You must be talking about somebody else.' Balthasar regarded his master seriously 'I went to the Capulet monument, Master Romeo, I saw for myself, she was as cold as ice, her limbs stiff, she was not there, I'm so sorry for bringing you this news, master.' Romeo see's himself through the eyes of the man in front of him, all of the life had drained from his snow white face, leaving behind a soulless shell of a man. His eyes black caverns, he has the look of a wild man who has been thrown into the eternal wastelands of damnation. He stands, reeling at the loss of his beloved mate. He turns, unable to face his young servant any more. 'Go get me some ink and paper and hire horses for the return journey to Verona'. Romeo brushes off all of Balthasar's concerns and goes to do his masters will. As Balthasar leaves, Romeo breaks internally. His heart falters and pain shoots throughout him, he curls himself into a tiny ball, hoping to lessen the impact of his heartbreaking devastation. He opens his eyes to find that the world has lost all its colours. All he can see is grey. All of the light has filtered out of him. There is nothing for him in this world anymore. He needs to return to his home, the only place he can be now. The deep authentic real love he shared with his Juliet can never be replaced, and he knows that he cannot live without it. He knows what he must do; he must find a way to be with his Juliet because without her, he can never truly live."'

Mr Berty looks up at the silent room, most of the girls have tears in their eyes, and he takes a deep breath, and slowly walks over to the table where Forks own Romeo and Juliet are sitting. 'Mr Cullen, that was excellent.' Edward looks up, and then Mr Berty know for certain, that Edward and Bella's time apart was spent exactly the same. Edward nods, and accepts the paper. Mr Berty turns back to walk to his desk and notes the students have come to the very same conclusion as him. Edward Cullen was nothing without Isabella Swan. Without her, he can never truly live.
