A single sound could not be heard save the almost silent footsteps of the
father. In his arms a baby girl slept silently, without care or worry. This
was how he would have it forever.
Forever in his arms.
Forever safe.
Forever without care or worry.
He knew that she had strength, her mother was no weak one. She could be a great queen among elves someday. She could be a great warrior. Some day.
The thought of someday seemed as though it was a stalker in the night, attempting to harm his little one. Queens could someday be killed for a mistake that their followers would not forgive. He had seen such things happen, even among elves. Warriors, even the most skilled, could turn to swiftly on their horse and fall, or catch an arrow in a wound unhealable. Someday.
Someday, you will take a mate, a husband, a lover. Such thoughts scare me. Would he be kind to you? Would he give you everything and ask for nothing? Would he love you so much as to ignore all else? Would he give you a family to love and care for together? Children to raise, strong and proud...
Of course, these are all foolish questions. I know these things will come. I know these things will hurt you at times. I know I will not always be there to protect you from them.
I know at times, you will be afraid and alone and there will be nothing I can do stop it.
The world will take from you until you can give no more and the world will give to you until you are content... for a short while.
If I make no other promises to you, my little one, I will always be there when you come home. If you seek my advice, my comfort or my companionship, I will give it to you freely. If you should hurt me, meaning to or not, I will not dwell on it and look upon you with angered eyes. If you ask forgiveness I will tell you needn't have.
If you wish to learn how to sight with a sword and shoot with a bow like the greatest warriors, I will teach you. If you wish to learn every tale ever known to our people, I will tell you as much as I can. If you wish to Learn the arts of speech or song or craft, I will teach you what I can.
The silver haired child stirred slightly in Celeborns arms as he hugged her close to his chest.
And If you call for me at any time, not even Iluvatar would keep me from coming to your aid.
"You will forever be my little one, Celebrian. Never think nor let anyone tell you otherwise." He whispered to the child.
Short little story slightly exploring one of the most overlooked relationships in Middle-Earth, Yes even more overlooked that Elrond and Celebrians. She had a father didn't she? Celeborn did have a daughter, didn't he? So why don't we ever hear about em'?
N E ways, just had to put this little fic out there.
