Brook sat alone in the darkness by the candlelight, with only his pen and parchment to keep him company. He took a deep breath (that is, if he had lungs, yohohohoho!) and began to write.

Dearest Luffy-san,

I write to you now in your time of need, not only for your reassurance that I will return to you, but for my own guilt as well.

For you see, I've been captured by the Longarm Tribe. They've become my managers for my concerts. I've taken a stagename: "Soul King". I have aquired a new guitar. It is shark-shaped, which I believed you would that interesting.

Previously to my last concert I told my managers that I would be retiring. A large swarm of Marines barged through the doors during the concert and attempted to apprehend me. They knew that I was once a member and captain of the Rumbar Pirates, and that I am a part of your crew. My fans did not know this, for they had only known me as "Soul King", and everyone believed you are no longer with this world.

I felt the need to prove them wrong, oh captain of mine.

I strummed my shark-guitar with newfound fervor, and played like I never had before. I took the microphone in my hand and exclaimed:

"STRAW HAT LUFFY IS ALIVE AND WILL SOMEDAY BECOME THE PIRATE KING!"

I picked up the song where I left off, as my devoted fans held back the swathes of Marines. My are as devoted to me as I am to you, dear captain.

I managed to escape with the aid of a group called the Rosy Life Riders. I am on my way to the meeting place now.

I shall see you soon, Luffy-san.

Sincerely,

"Soul King" Brook.

A/N: This was an idea that has been knocking around the inside of my skull for a while now, hopefully I can manage to update this more often than everything else I've written...
