You see gold.
His eyes, for the briefest of moments, so quick it's as if it never happened, flash gold. It's enough to make you do a double take, to consider this stranger, because maybe, just maybe, he's special. Like you are.
Fate must've had a field day with the two of you. Flashing small glimpses of what's to come, laughing as you overlook them.
That day, gold eyes didn't seem like such a bad thing.
(how wrong you were.)
It doesn't matter now, the past is the past, but looking back on everything, how could you have missed it?
Okay, to be fair, you were caught up in playing house once again, having a happy family. Him with his charming personality, and boyish good looks, you with all your spunk and naïvety.
(quite the pair, the two of you)
Still. There was always something slightly off. The bitter grudges, and scathing remarks you had to hide from your innocent little girl. Never were they often, yet they were often enough.
(how could you not see)
In the end, you should have known. But that's the thing. You did, but you didn't and now you'll never have you're Luke back again, or your family and you don't know how to feel about that.
(you're happy. oddly enough, you're happy)
I was looking through my old documents and this is from back in late january/ early february. I don't know why I never posted it, so I'm going to now
