He knew he was doomed.

That's why he broke it off.

Davesprite really did love Jade, but he had already fucked things up enough. He shouldn't have jumped into the sprite right away, he should have killed himself first. But there was nothing to be done now. He did it as kindly as he could. She understood, which made it slightly better. When he had said his fill, he gave her a hug and then slunk up to his room.

Davesprite's eyes filled with tears. "No," he said quietly, "No, you're a Strider. Striders don't fucking cry." Orange tears splashed down his front and he choked out, "Fuck it."

There was a soft knock at the door. "Go away," he yelled. Nanasprite drifted through the door. "Leave me alone," said Davesprite with a sob. Nanasprite sat next to him on the bed and put her gloved hand consolingly on his shoulder. Davesprite looked at her for a moment, and then, completely abandoning his cool guy facade, threw himself onto her in a hug. Nanasprite gently pulled off his sunglasses and he buried his face in her fhoulder. They sat in silence, Nanasprite letting Davesprite hiccup himself into calmness once again.

Davesprite pulled away from her at last, wiped his eyes, and replaced his sunglasses. "Are you feeling a bit better now, dear?" Nanasprite asked. Davesprite nodded. "You're a good boy, Davesprite," she said, patting his cheek, "You'll find someone, don't worry." Davesprite just smiled at her, not wanting to tell her about his mistake. She exited the room, and davesprite's smile slid from his face.
