"The Good Ol' Switch-a-Roo"

Its the first Monday morning after Christmas break and the alarm sounded. Caitie Roth
slammed her fist down on the mechanism and threw it to the floor. The first day of school. 'Back
to the Hell hole' Caitie thought as she dragged herself out of bed. She hurried to the bathroom in
hope of getting it before her 5 other siblings reach it. Today, she succeeded and got to take the
first hot shower of the morning, when usually she gets the last cold one. Caitie walked slowly
back into her room and turned on the loud grunge sound of Nirvana. She sorted through her clean
clothes to find something to wear. She finally chose her short black pleated skirt and her favorite
burgundy velvet long sleeve shirt. The brunette fixed her semi-long locks into two pigtails on the
crown of her head. Caitie quickly threw on her shoes and left the house.

Monday morning at 5 am, Val Linear's alarm clock sounded. It was still dark outside, but
that's the way Val likes to start the day. She tiptoed into the bathroom and took a long hot
shower, but not too hot so as to not over-dry her skin. After the shower, Val walks back to her
room and turned on her Paula Cole CD. After dressing herself in a long ankle length grey sweat
skirt, and a pastel pink tee, Val brushed her blonde tresses and curled them. Val put on her
makeup, consisting of foundation, concealer, blush, and lipgloss. Once the preparation for school
was done, Val woke up her sister, Brooke, so she could get ready for school as well. Val goes
into the kitchen and eats a hearty breakfast, considering it is the most important meal of the day.
After eating, she brushes her teeth and leaves for school.

Val and Caitie meet one another at their lockers, which are two away from each other.
"Hey Caitie! You look rather normal today," Val greeted. "Hey yourself. Normal? Me? Never."
Caitie replied. "I don't see why its so hard for you to look like everyone else." Val said.
"Because, Val, I'm not everybody else. I'm me, and I don't want to be like everyone else.
Haven't we discussed this enough already?" the brunette answered sharply. "Sorry Caitie." Val
apologized. "Besides, it isn't like I'm trying to look horrid. I mean, I think I look great. And you
may think its easy dressing like this, but it isn't." Caitie continued. "What do you mean not easy?
Hon, I have to get up at 5 AM every morning so I can be ready. Trust me, I know how hard it is
to get ready for school." Val responded. "Yeah, but it doesn't look that hard for you. I mean, you
don't do anything to your hair, your clothes are so plain, and you don't wear any makeup." Caitie
argued. "Well, I don't see any makeup on your pale skin, and your clothes don't look that
difficult." Val slashes back. "Hey hey, I'm not trying to fight with you. I'm just saying its not
easy. And I don't think you could handle the difficultly of being Caitie Roth." Caitie told Val.
"Yeah, I'm saying you couldn't handle being me either." Val agreed. "So, genius idea in my head.
Let's see how hard it is to be each other." Caitie suggested. "What? Caitie, you're crazy!" Val
exclaimed. "No, hear me out. We trade places. I'll be you for a day and you be me. After-school
activities and all, except when there's an EMT call, I'll let you handle it." Caitie explained. "Well,
I don't know Caitie....."Val said. "Unless you can't deal. I mean, if you can't handle it.." Caitie
interrupted. "Ok, your on. We'll see how you deal." Val smiled and walked away to class.
