One shot about the meaning of the name "Natara." A fun fact is that "Mallory" means the unhappy or unfortunate man. IRONY. :) Kk please review and I'll love you F O R E V E R.. I swear.(:

I lay curled up on the floor in a ball. Thinking back, I realized I should have known. Why else would she have specified I come alone? Why else would I have been told about this 'mission' in private? It had been a lie all along.

Captain Yeong stared at me from across her desk, piled high with assignments.

"You'll be going to the address I gave you alone, understand?" she had asked me.

"Doesn't that seem a bit...risky, captain?" I questioned, slightly suspicious. "With all due respect, shouldn't I have some back-up, or..."

"No," she snapped. "You are to go alone."

-PRESENT DAY-

It was probably over a week I was gone now. Shouldn't someone be searching, wondering, worried? Surely they'd make note of my absence...or had Captain Yeong told them not to come? I hadn't had water in a while, how long, I wasn't sure. I wondered if I'd start hallucinating soon. Was that...Mal's voice? How could it be? I could barely open my eyes at this point. I heard a door burst open and light attempted to penetrate my feebly twitching eyelids.

"Oh my GOD!"

I heard his voice as if far off, the one I thought I'd never hear again. But he was too late. Death was impatient. I heard him, but I was too far gone. The last thing I registered was him falling to his knees next to me, his hand searching desperately for a pulse. His lips pressed against mine...

But I'd finally lived up to my name. "Natara" meant sacrifice.

I was dead.
