"Naruto..?"
Naruto could only feel the air grow colder as that procelian face brushed past his sweat matted one. Raven hair threaded with golden hair, colors of clothes contrasting together.
"Didn't you used to say you wanted to become Hokage..? If I'm not mistaken, you should've been training after all this time.. Not chasing after me.. Isn't that right, Naruto? "
The unbearably bright sunlight was shining down on this scene, but Naruto was saddened at the point of knowing that it wasn't brightening up any part of it. He knew that this was a serious matter, and that he had to do something, had to try /anything/..
"A person that can't even save his friend.. isn't worth becoming a Hokage. Right, Sasuke?"
The man he has been searching for, all these years, the man he has trained so hard for so he could bring him back to their home. He was right in front of Naruto, not even a arms length away.. and yet Naruto was so far. Had he missed something?
Was this going to be his last mission? Would he live? He couldn't let himself die now; this wasn't the right time. Wasn't the right place. It just wasn't /it/..
"Back then, I could have easily ended your life.."
Obviously, Naruto had missed something as he stared out ahead, because he was snapped back into the chilling reality as a voice whispered, light as a feather, in his ear. A small bead of sweat that had formed on his temple ran quietly down his scarred cheek.
"But now, I'm going to end your life all at a whim of mine."
The sound of metal scrapping againest a holster was heard, ringing in Naruto's ears like a bell. A small bead of sweat that had formed on his temple ran quietly down his scarred cheek. Oceanic eyes cautiously trailed along the slender neck, past the thick and soft strands of raven hair, along the soft white material of Sasuke's clothing, to the flash of light from the sun that caught on the steel blade of the sword being held up in midair. The end of the sword was facing Naruto now.
Suddenly, April felt more like December. And before the blonde could supress it, a chill ran up Naruto's spine. This was it. He was going to die. He couldn't move, he was already weakened from the fight with Orochimaru.. all his energy to fight back was drained from his exhausted body.
His gaze slid easily ahead again.
The sword flashed once more in the light, moving in a flash.
A horrified shriek came from the right.
Sasuke had shoved the length of the sword through Naruto's chest. The blonde gaped, eyes wide, blood trickling from the side of his mouth. Naruto was frozen, but the pained expression faded, and a ghost of a smile replaced the frown on Naruto's mouth.
No matter what, their bond will always stay in Naruto's heart.
Because Naruto had always loved Sasuke, and will continue to love him in the afterlife.
Owari.
