This is Sam's thoughts (in poetry format) as he watches Frodo sail away at
the Grey Havens:

The grey ships are sailing hence
And I watch as they go
Watching as you sail away
To lands where I can't follow

You told me I can't be torn in two
Meaning I should stay right here
And not wish that I'd went with you
That you couldn't still be near

My family, or my dearest friend
With whom I've been through all
I know there will be a day when
I too hear the sea's call

I wish to go
I wish to stay
But now I know
I'll go someday

You looked so happy on that ship
A way I've not seen since before
Since time was good and there was peace
Since before our dark quest to Mordor

My friend, I can't believe you've gone
And for once I did not follow
Somehow inside that feels so wrong
A part of me feels hollow

But I will see you once again
When my time has come
But for me this tale's not yet finished
My journey is not done

Before I go I've things to do,
Before I sail away
I've more life left in me to live
So I'll not leave today

I will make sure our tale goes on
Your deeds will be remembered
And so, Undying Lands or no
You will live on forever
