The clouds hung ominous and grey in the sky above, the threatening rumble posing a threat to the pedestrians below. Kanji glanced up at the darkening clouds, "awe man, crap" he muttered to himself as the first drip of rain landed on his forehead. With his hands stuffed in his jacket pockets he quickened his pace to the nearby bus stop, the only shelter around for quite a while. 'This day couldn't get any worse' he thought as he kicked an empty can off the path.
The craft show he was returning from had been full of people quick to judge, they had been glaring at him as if he was going to wreck the joint. The small crocheted dog he had created had made a good impression on the judges at the show, until they found out who had made it. Laughed out the building he had slouched off home to now be greeted by this sudden storm.
He approached the bus stop and dropped down on his seat oblivious to his surroundings. He took the small dog out of his pocket and grimaced. The small soft toy seemed to be mocking him as well, "What are you looking at?" With that remark he tossed the plush onto the floor beside him. It was at this point he became aware of another person sitting at the other end of the bus stop.
"Excuse me? Did you drop this?" the stranger posed to Kanji. She was a petite figure with a braid of blue hair, her face carried one of concern and caring and Kanji was sure her personality was to match. "Ermm…sorry…No…its rubbish…sorry." Kanji looked down in embarrassment. He could feel the blush appearing on his cheeks. As brave and tough as he acted he was still stunned by the presence of this serene stranger. "Oh, but it's so cute! I love dogs." Her face of concern had changed into a smile. "It's just some crap I made, it's not that great…really…ermmm…it's just rubbish" Kanji felt embarrassed and stood up abruptly to take off, at this point he realised the heavens were still open. He looked disheartened at the pouring rain turned around and dropped back down into his seat with a sigh. The woman had the concerned look on her face again as she seated herself in the seat right next to Kanji. "Oh..um..Hey, I'm Fuuka Yamagishi, if it's rubbish then do you mind if I keep it? I wouldn't normally be so abrupt but I really like dogs and this reminds me of a friend." Kanji gave a curt nod and felt the redness in his cheeks brighten. After a few moments silence: "KANJI! I'm Kanji, nice to meet you." The abruptness took Fuuka by surprise and an expression of shock appeared on her face before morphing into a small smile. "So, do you make a lot of things?" she asked with a keen interest.
