Flour
It got everywhere. How? All she did was open the packet and…
POOF!
Like some tiny white explosion in a bag.
It continued to go everywhere, along with many other ingredients, as she poured and measured and mixed; it all refused to go where it was supposed to go and stay there. Or maybe she just wasn't being delicate enough…
Demon slayers don't do delicate anyway.
When her mix was safe in the oven - being carefully timed - she sat on the counter licking the spoon; it was that moment her house mate returned home, his katana clutched in his hand as normal. She gave him a smile around the spoon.
"Welcome home."
His eyes scanned the kitchen and then he gave her a disapproving look. "What have you been doing?"
"Baking."
"Baking?" He strolled over to her, sniffing the air as he passed the oven, and looked at her. "And what is that on your cheek?"
She ran her fingers across her pale cheek and then licked one. "…Egg."
Vergil frowned slightly and wiped her other cheek with his thumb. "I meant this side." He stared at the blob on the digit.
"Bun mix," she stated and ran the spoon through the unused mix in the bowl before eating it. "It's nice."
The elder devil watched her out of the corner of his eye and gave his thumb a hesitant lick. "Not bad."
Shiro smiled, set the bowl down and hopped off the counter. "I think they're done." She opened the door of the oven and Vergil inhaled the sweet smell. "Nice and brown, awesome!"
"You got flour everywhere…"
"It got itself everywhere; that stuff is so uncooperative!"
As she knelt down with an oven mitt, Vergil chuckled. "It's in your hair."
"Seriously!?" She set the tray on the hobs and shook her head; flour fell to the floor like snow. "Ah, if I wash my hair it'll just…stick together…Did it all come out?"
"No. Here," he chuckled again and ruffled her hair with both hands; when he was done, the silver strands stuck up in all directions. "That's a good look for you."
"If you laugh, I'll stab you with your own sword." she frowned, re-did her hair and reached for a bun; she paused, broke it in half and held it out to Vergil. "Try it with me?"
He took the offered piece and studied it. It was fluffy on the inside, but brown outside; he looked to her again and they nodded, popping heir halves into their mouths.
"Oh, wow." Shiro smiled. "I think I put a little too much sugar in…but they're nice." She looked to Vergil. "Right?"
He swallowed and gave her a small smile. "Yes, well done." He patted her on the head as he passed. "Now clean up this mess."
