Just a Little Paperwork
"That could have been embarrassing," Steve McGarrett thought, as he scoped out his objective and found operation parameters sadly lacking. It's a good thing Navy SEALs thoroughly surveiled their position before committing to a mission.
Steve stuck his head out of the bathroom door. "Hey, Danny, you're out of toilet paper!"
"It's in the trash bag — in the corner," his partner shouted back from the other room.
Steve opened the trash bag, expecting to find rolls fresh from the grocery store. Instead, he found streamers of TP rolled in loose balls.
Danny Williams stuck his head in the half open door.
"Just shake out any leaves or twigs you find," the detective said. "Unless you're nostalgic for that sort of thing, Tarzan. Then knock yourself out."
Danny disappeared back to the kitchen.
Steve gawked at the now empty doorway as the meaning of the pile of loose paper registered. Danny hadn't snitched, but his daughter had confessed her crime to her Uncle Steve.
"You mean, you salvaged the toilet paper that Grace used to TP your house?"
"I paid for it. I'll use it," the always cash-strapped detective said firmly. "Waste not, want not, Steven."
Steve pulled at a length of TP, seeing streaks of dirt and a tangle of leaves. He decided he could hold it until he got home.
