Hello everyone! I am currently going through a rewrite of most of my stories (if only to not groan as I reread them). This is one of the stories where the changes will not be as major. People who read this chapter beforehand will not be required to read this rewrite.

To those who are reading this for the first time, there are a few things you should know before hand: 1) There is no Aunt Mito 2) Gon's a girl 3) Ging is her older brother 4) There's an OC named Jun who's also Gon's older brother (Ging's twin). And that's all you will need to know before you read.

Disclaimer: I do not own Hunter x Hunter in any way. I do however own Jun and my version of Gon.

Prologue: Enter Angel Child

It is a peaceful day at Whale Island as Ging and Jun return home for a relaxing break from their hunter lifestyle. It has been three years since they became hunters and over a year since the two went their separate ways.

"Jun! It's good to see you! How have you been?" Ging says to his twin brother. Ging is without a shirt, wearing cargo pants with a cloak to cover most of him.

"I've been fine, Ging. I found many strange plaques with writing I cannot decipher." Jun is in jeans a basic shirt; he also has a cloak only his is not as worn out as Ging's.

"Really? I've found some temples with strange writing on the walls; I could only really understand the pictures. Maybe we're talking about the same thing," Ging says, speculating.

"Ging… We promised Grandmother that we wouldn't talk too much about work during our visit…" Jun feels obliged to remind his somewhat careless brother.

"True, true. Shall we go? If we hurry we'll make it to lunch," Ging asks with his usual smirk.

"Very well…" Jun says with a sigh. The two speed off at a speed where, to everyone else, they simply vanished.

The two arrive at their home in mere moments. The house has a giant tree that appeared as if it grew from the house. It's a simple home, a two story only because they live on a hill. An old lady is hanging laundry on the patio.

"Grandma!" Ging and Jun yell happily as they run normally to the house.

"Oh! Ging! Jun! How good to see you! You're right on time; it's about time for lunch," Grandma says as she looks into the house to start making them something to eat.

"Great! I'm starving!" Ging exclaims

"As am I," says Jun

"Why don't you two take a bath before eating? You both look like a mess after running through the forest. I haven't even started making anything," she says as she gets the kitchen ready.

"Alright! I call first!" Ging yells while running inside.

"Please do… you looked like a mess before we started running," Jun says with a slight smirk.

"You two haven't changed much have you?" Grandma says while chuckling.

"Not really. But I think even Ging grew a bit after all the time as a hunter," Jun admits

"Jun! I'm done! Your turn!"

"Kay!" Jun yells as he goes off for a bath

Ging and Jun are laughing while telling their grandmother stories of their adventures. They get what they were doing once they separated.

"I decided to look for ruins and let the average people enjoy them too. Of course I first need to figure out a way to do that without damaging the ruin," Ging explains with a broad grin.

"I'm currently trying to decipher the ancient texts I come across while searching for more knowledge," Jun says with a smile.

"Still the same bookworm as ever," Ging teases.

"And why not? I enjoy learning about several things, knowledge is part of being a hunter too you know."

"I guess. But I prefer the adventure of it."

"You two seem to have had quite the time on your travels, but I'm glad you come by every once in a while," their grandma says with a kind smile

"Of course Grandmother, we could never stay away too long from here. It's home," Jun says while Gin grins.

"That is good to hear," a knock could be heard from the door. "Oh? I wonder who that is," she walks over to the door at cries, "Oh my!" At her door is a little baby girl sleeping with a note beside her.

'This child's name is -, but it must not be known. She is a very special being. She is loved by all of us elements. There is a book with her that will teach her how to use her powers. I ask that you raise her with love and care and that Ging and Jun MUST be by her side for her first 5 years of life. As difficult as it is for them to believe, she is their sister.'

"Ging! Jun! I think you need to see this!" Grandma yells, panic invading her voice.

"Grandma! What is it?!" They run out and see the baby. "What's she doing here?"

"Read this letter." She hands them the note

They read it slowly. "Is the writer insane? Mom died ages ago, so did dad. There's no way she can be our sister," Ging says with a confused expression

"Normally I would agree, if not for the fact that there's a picture of our parents in this book," Jun says as he looks through it.

"What's in the book anyway?" Ging is curious about this book that would teach their 'sister'

"Nothing." To prove it, Jun shows the book to his twin "I can feel Nen from it though, so maybe it will show words when she grows stronger." He speculates

"Then I guess there's only one more question to ask. Are we going to do what the letter asks?" Ging is slightly worried at the thought; she could end up dangerous.

Jun is silent as he stares at the girl before saying, "Yes."

"Why's that?"

"Just a feeling, but we both know how accurate my feelings can get."

"That's true. So what's her new name going to be?"

"Gon," their grandmother answers for them.

"Gon? For a girl? Are you sure grandma?" Ging asks

"Yes… I believe this name will fit her just fine." To prove her point the little girl begins to giggle, woken up by their surprise.

"Alright, then her name will be Gon. Welcome to the family Gon," Jun says as he takes hold of her and brings her close.

Little Gon just smiles sweetly at her new family.
