Sirius Black always knew that there was something going on with Remus Lupin. From his tattered robes to his seemingly never ending exhaustion. After these observations, an eleven year old Sirius started studying remus' tendencies. His friend, he noticed, always seemed sickly. Remus frequently winced and is rather shy. Sirius kept watching, until the morning that he became bold.
The night before, Remus said that he was going to visit his family. That morning, however, Remus was back and looking worse for wear. He had gashes on his face, eyes full of pain and skin pale enough to rival that of a vampire.
"What happened?" He heard himself ask
"Just a family thing.." His friend replied
The answer was a slap in the face for him. As the puzzle pieces came together, he began to research.
Victims of abuse may exibit many behavioral "signs". They may also have wounds such as bruises, unhealed lacerations and black eyes. Abuse comes in many forms. Physical, sexual and mental/emotional are the main forms of abuse. A victim of emotional abuse can be easily upset/agitated, extremely withdrawn and nervous around people. They may also experience a lack of confidence. Among abuse, there may also be neglect. Neglect can be an unhealthy living environment, unsafe living conditions and basic needs such as food, water, etc. not being met..."
At this, Sirius dropped his book. Silent tears streaming down his face. Though Remus may not be the victim of abuse, he is.
