Hello. First Doctor Who fic. Started out as a songfic thing, but it morphed. Feedback would be lovely. I'm always open to suggestions. This didn't quite turn out the way I wanted, but I still think it's alright and I want to contribute something to this crazy fandom.

Sometime before the Silurians and after the Dream Lord they stand as one body – Rory, Amy and the Doctor. One body saving planets and stopping wars, dancing in the alien music and light that colours their evenings and days.

But this is not the time for dancing.

"Are you like the angels from the old myths?" the alien child (although she looks human if you don't notice the animal-like ears) asks them.

The Doctor looks back at Amy and Rory for some sign and they both shrug. Mind churning, he leans down to get to roughly the same height as the child. "Yes," he pauses to look back at his companions, "We're all angels and we're going to get your mother back."

The child furrows her brow and cocks her head to the side. "But you can't be angels," she reasons.

"Oh? And why not?"

"Angels don't wear bow ties or live in big blue boxes."

(At the end of the day the child and mother are reunited and the bad guys are defeated. Amy and Rory retire to their room and the Doctor stays awake, looking at his reflection in the mirror. No, he thinks, monsters do. And somewhere, deep within his hearts and mind, he can hear laughing.)
