Respect

Even after living in Sinnoh for more than sixty years, Professor Rowan could be pleasantly surprised by things. He did not expect that a certain reckless blond boy could be so respectable.

Even after Professor Rowan gave Barry his first Pokemon, he did not think very highly of him. Rowan's initial impression of Barry was that he was an immature and reckless kid without any amount of patience. Although, that day, he was at least honest enough to admit that it was his idea that he and his friend dart through the patches of grass in attempt to get to Sandgem Town.

When Barry met Rowan at his lab a few days later, Rowan's respect for him had improved a bit. His Pokemon seemed to be very happy being with him, and it was at that point that he felt no regrets about letting him have that Pokemon.

Then came the day when Team Galactic was about to complete what they had set out to do. Although Lucas and Dawn played the biggest roles in saving the world, Barry turned out to be quite the asset as well. He clearly did love Pokemon and in that time, Professor Rowan really came to respect the young lad.
