Hey, everyone! Hope you're all doing well.
If you want to make sense of the story, reading 'The Painter' would help. ^^ When I write Tadashi comfort scenes, it's always Tadashi doing the comforting, but what if Tadashi needed a shoulder to lean on himself?
This is kind of my try to see what it would be like. Thank you for taking the time for seeing this! ^.^
Promise
Just close your eyes, the sun is going down. You'll be alright, no one can hurt you now. Come morning light, you and I'll be safe and sound…
This had to stop.
All the pain.
All the hurt.
Seeing Hiro on the bed, lifeless with blood all over his face parlayed him. Tadashi saw right before his eyes as the doctors wheeled him into surgery. He just about dropped the phone when he got the call.
No.
This wasn't real.
It had to be a joke.
Aunt Cass made it out alive. One of the wheels of the truck exploded and began to spin out of control. The impact was more heavy on the right of the truck, which Hiro was sitting in. Thanks to Baymax, they made it to the hospital on time and he altered everyone else.
Flashes of familiar faces came through his mind's eye.
"Mom…! Dad… No!"
Aunt Cass made it out within an inch of her life. Hiro was barely holding on.
Wasabi and Gogo came immediately to the hospital. Fred and Honey Lemon were on the way. Tadashi was glad that Wasabi and Gogo took the time to come over to the hospital for him, though he had to be alone. He needed some air.
Why was it that everyone around him left him? If Aunt Cass were in a more crucial condition, he'd lost all the family he knew. If Aunt Cass were somehow gone, he'd be all that Hiro left. If he lost Hiro… He would have let down their mother and father.
He closed his eyes as the night air blew across his face.
"Mom… Dad. I didn't mean to let you down. Please. Don't be mad at me."
"Tadashi?"
Turning, he learned the voice belonged to Ami.
"I got your text and Baymax's alert as soon as I could, I hope you're alright…"
He felt Ami's arms around him. The reason why he wanted to get away from the waiting room was so he could get away from everyone trying to say sorry. He knew they meant well, but he couldn't be in a room with a bunch of people.
"Is Aunt Cass alright, what happened?"
"She's… she's fine. Hiro's the one in surgery."
A hand went over her mouth. "Oh, my god…"
"He… he was just lying there, and he couldn't move. I… I don't know what's going to happen to him."
He felt Ami's hand around his. "He's gonna be alright. Hiro's a tough kid, he'll pull through like he always does."
"If only I checked the truck, they… they wouldn't be like this."
"You couldn't have known that was gonna happen, the accident wasn't your fault."
"When mom and dad died, I promised them I'd look after Hiro. All that time, trying to get him out of trouble, getting him out of bot fighting… Now he's in there, fighting for his life…!"
Out of all the mistakes, this one topped them all. This mistake could cost Hiro his own life. And it was all his fault.
"I knew your parents, Tadashi," Ami breathed. "And they would be proud of you. You've taken care of Hiro for so many years, and he turned out great. I don't think they'd ever be disappointed in you, Tadashi…"
She looked into his eyes, closely holding his hands. "I'm proud of you."
They went into an embrace.
He lost so many people around him. He didn't want to loose her.
"Promise me, Ami, please…" breathed Tadashi. "Don't leave me."
She made him do something for himself instead of doing things for others all the time. With her... he was free.
"I'm not going anywhere…"
