"...wait what? Could you please repeat that?" Jacob asked. His mouth was slightly open, his eyes widened as if he had seen a ghost. His vibrated phone in his hand was somewhat forgotten after he heard the news Edward had told him just now.

"I...Jake...I'm going out with Bella now. She...well...us...we-" his head snapped up when he heard a loud laughter erupted from his friend. Jacob was laughing. But it wasn't just a normal laugh, that laugh was directed at him. His best friend was laughing at him.

The younger boy couldn't hold it anymore as he held his stomach; his knees fell on the floor and he continued to laugh like there was no tomorrow. The corner of his eyes swelled with tears.

Edward stared dumbfounded. He didn't say anything funny and yet Jacob -...and if he remembered it correctly, the ebony-haired boy never even laughed at any stupid jokes he made before. But now he laughed at his good news?

"What the heck is so funny?" Edward stood and fisted his hands, raising his chest to show that he was furious at his friend.

"Y-you!" he could barely string a word; Jacob was still in a deep laughter.

"Me?" he twitched, what did Jacob find so hilarious about him? His hair? His voice? Or maybe the fact that he finally had someone he liked? If Jake laughed because of the third option, he'd definitely punch him right in the face, best friend or not.

Well, maybe not. No punch.

"Y-yeah..." his laughter finally died down. "It's just...you told me that you're going out with Bella..." and he laughed again, louder and longer this time.

"Are you finished?"

"Yeah yeah...I'm done." Jacob sighed and patted his chest. It been years since he had a good laugh like that, he really needed to do it occasionally.

"So, care to tell me why you laughed?"

"It's because you said you're dating that Swan girl."

"What's wrong with being with her?" For the very first time in his life, Edward felt like he wanted to strangle his friend, but he knew he could never hurt him.

Jacob was too precious.

"Because," he crawled toward his friend, putting his hands on Edward's laps and grinned, "You're in love with me."

The words were enough to make his heart thumping faster.
