Riley Matthews was always that optimistic, outgoing and social girl. She was always sitting in the front row and raising her hand high.
Riley, now eighteen is depressed, lonely, and not the same girl. Her parents divorced ages ago and her father ran off to who knows where. He mother has been a complete stress case ever since and barely talks to Riley. Since her parents divorced so long ago she was an only child.
She lost a lot of friends but one stayed, Maya Hart, that rebel best friend who's life was slightly worse than Riley's yet she kept on smiling on the outside. Maya had been trying to get Riley to loosen up and go to a frat party with her but she wouldn't budge for anything. She wanted a scholarship to college so she could get the heck away from New York, it brought back so many horrible memories that she didn't want to stay.
Maya came crawling through Riley's window. "Hey." She smirked jumping into the floor and bouncing up as she straightened her leather jacket and pushed her long blonde locks out of her face.
"What are you doing here?" Riley sighed putting her pencil down and turning to Maya.
"I need to borrow your black, swede boots." She smiled walking into her closet.
"Why?" The brunette asked curiously. Maya smirked and came out the closet, hopping on one foot as she zipped the gold zipper up the 5 inch heeled booties.
"Because, I'm going to a party." Maya tossed her black, beat up converse into her bag and started for the window. Something stopped her.
"You wanna come?" Maya asked walking over to her best friend and slowly turning her desk chair around so Riley was facing the blonde.
"You know I don't party." Riley said flatly.
"Come on Riles, you're eighteen, live a little. Senior year is almost over and you haven't done one exciting thing, a party isn't going to hurt you." Maya said folding her arms over chest.
Riley closed her book and rolled her eyes. "I don't have time for parties, I'm taking so many AP classes that my whole life is basically studying."
"It's Friday night, school isn't until Monday. Have fun! It's not like you're mom is gonna stop you." She sighed.
Riley tapped her foot nervously against the hardwood floor. Her leg shook and Maya looked at Riley anxiously.
"Please." Maya pleaded.
Riley sighed and shook her head. "I can't, I'm sorry."
Maya grunted and grabbed her bag she started for the window. "Well if you decide to come the party is downtown at Charlie's apartment."
"I'm not coming." She repeated waving Maya goodbye with her hand.
"Alright fine, but Lucas Friar is gonna be there." She smirked climbing out the window and going back down the fire escape.
Riley immediately blanked. Lucas Friar was her first ever crush and kiss and date and boyfriend. They stopped talking after he moved away in eighth grade.
Riley was stunned to hear his name. It still have her chills as she thought about him. Riley smirked and put her books away. She threw off her sweats and pulled her hair out of the messy bun it was currently in. She admired her body in the mirror. "I'm going to that party." She smirked pulling her little panties off and throwing her sports bra onto the bed before hopping into the shower.
