Lily laid down on the soft grass and dug her fingers into the earth beneath her. It was cool and moist, and she closed her eyes.
She honestly had no idea what she was doing, and the only comfort she had in this whole mess is that she was certain Rod didn't either.
If James found out, it would destroy him. If Bellatrix found out, she would destroy Lily.
But that wasn't the reason she was going to break up with Rod tonight.
No, that was for her child.
The look on Rod's face as she told him broke her heart. The look on his face when she told him that the child had been conceived in November, when Rod had been out of the country, when it could only James, shattered it.
It was for the best she told herself. She and Rod had no future, they had always known that.
