A/N: As I was watching some YouTube clips of Luke and Laura, I couldn't help but think about the contributions to the fanfiction world and how little is really dedicated to the timeless, best, most enduring couple on General Hospital. And here is the result of my inspiration.

Living Again

Luke stared at it. The glistening amber liquid sparkled in the dim light of the room. As the amber liquid sloshed from side to side, Luke was mesmerized. Alcohol was addicting. It was his only vice now.

It kept him grounded, kept him earthbound when all he really wanted to do was leave.

All he wanted to do was go. Far away, like she had.

Laura. She was gone.

Laura.

Her name was a cancer, her pictures malignant.

He had torn them all down, once.

In a rage, he had thrown them all out, tossing them across the room, as far away from himself as possible. When he woke, the pounding ache of his head blurring his vision, the glass clung to his clothes, the splinters from the frames stayed in his hair. Slowly, one by one, he reframed them, re- hung them. As he sat afterwards, he cried and drank his pain away.

Now, as he sat, he looked at the single picture of her that he had kept, his wallet open to reveal her smiling face. She was a drug. One that he would gladly have over and over again. She was his soul.

The pain never went away. He tried, too often for his family's liking, to drown his pain in alcohol.

Numb.

That's all he wanted to be. That's all.

She was like a drug, her kisses invading his senses, numbing his brain, her beauty was addicting, stunning his senses into submission. But, God, he loved her. He wanted her. Even as he sat in the dimly lit bar, staring at the amber whiskey, he knew it wasn't enough. He wanted her.

Luke wanted Laura.

As he downed the liquid in a gulp, a carnal desire overcame him. It wasn't just love. It was necessity, need, and the desire to be alive again. Laura was his life

As he pushed himself away from the bar, he grabbed his jacket.

He needed to live again.

And he would.

He was going to get his life back.

Laura Spencer was his life. He would get her back.

A/N: There you have it. Not the best, rather abstract, I s'pose, but I felt like contributing to the mighty universe of GH. Review!
