"Where's Serena, Blair?" Nate asked barging into her room.
"How am I supposed to know and you can't just come in here, I could have been busy," Blair said turning to face him, she was supposed to be angry but as soon as she saw his face her anger turned to worry. "What's wrong with Serena?"
"I don't know, I really don't, somethings wrong Blair and she isn't here and she isn't with Lily, Erik thinks that she ran of again, she withdrew from Columbia and they haven't heard from her yet, no-one but the Dean has, not Dan, not even Chuck and that's kinda disturbing."
"Nate its Serena, what do you expect? Do you not remember the Shepherd wedding? She gets scared and she runs, if I were you I wouldn't worry for another year," she said waving of his concern.
"Don't you think I know this Blair? I've been there every time she's run away," he said grabbing her arms getting her to look into his eyes. "This time it's different, this time it's like none of us even care, we all turned our backs on her, Erik said he was the only one that believed in her and she thinks that isn't enough," Nate let go of her arms. "That's always been enough."
"Nate, you're making a big deal out of nothing-" Blair started still shocked at his behaviour.
"And you're acting like she isn't your best friend and you haven't known her all your life, or at least the past few years," he screamed.
"Nate," Blair began calmly.
"Blair, she withdrew from Columbia, you know how much that meant to her, she would never just withdraw, this morning she and Lily fought for her to remain there, what changed? You and I both know she doesn't just change, she just doesn't," he whispered the last line sitting down on Blair's bed with his head in his hands.
"If I wasn't as worried as you are I would ask how much you've had to drink, I'm the drama queen in our relationship," she said getting a small smile out of him. "Time to call in the big guns, we'll find her and it will be fine she's probably in a random bar, you know S," Nate smiled a thank you at Blair and took her hand in his.
Half an hour later Chuck strolled into the room, "Nathaniel," he started but Blair shot him a silencing look.
"Do you have any idea where Serena is?" she asked tiredly.
"No but I can have my PI track her, if you'd like," he said sarcastically, his joking face lost as soon as Nate looked up at him.
"Please," is all Nate said and Chuck could see his best friend at breaking point.
"I'll make you a drink," Chuck said. "Something strong," he muttered to himself walking out of the room, his phone already speed dialling his PI and his brain working to try to figure out what was going on.
"Serena is missing and Nate is freaking me out, usually I wouldn't be worried because its Serena and this is what she does but Chuck everything he said is true the only thing that means something to her that she ran away from was Nate, everything else she fought for no matter what and she just gave up Columbia," she rambled only stopping when Chuck put his arms around her. "We fought but I was upset, I had reason to be, I just didn't think about how upset she was. She has changed, she would never run without us knowing, the four of us are closer again, it's us."
"Caleb's looking for her," he said rubbing her arms. "Like you said she's Serena we'll find her and you two can do the whole Waldorf – Woodsen friendship thing."
"You better go do the whole Archibald – Bass friendship thing before he loses it," she said nodding her head in the direction of the stairs. "I'll call Lily and Erik."
After a frustrating call to Lily, Blair returned to her room to find the boys lounging on her bed with a joint. "You know, as a mother who is supposed to be trying she really knows how to push her daughter awa-Hey, hey, hey what are you doing?" she asked when she saw them.
"Needed it, you should try," Nate said handing the joint to Chuck and blowing out the smoke.
"No I will not try but I will admit that you seem more relaxed," she said walking over to her windows and throwing them open. "Chuck, anything?"
He shook his head then smirked, "She's probably with Humphrey," he said.
"No I left his place before I came here," Nate said taking a gulp of whatever Chuck poured for him.
"You two are getting annoyingly close these days," Blair said waving her hand in front of her to get the smoke away from her face. "What made you angry at her?"
"Didn't you read Gossip Girl at all tonight?" Nate asked.
"I was busy Nate, I got the text but I didnt really look at it, why? How did Gossip Girl twist this story?" Blair asked reaching for her phone and opening the blast. "So she came to choose one of you but ended up kissing both of you?"
"Then when we confronted her about it she said she just got into the party," Nate said sitting up properly. Blair was still looking at the phone concentrating. "Blair?" Nate asked wondering what she was thinking.
Blair pulled up her laptop and went onto the Gossip Girl page to the blast and enlarging the pictures. "Nate was there something wrong with the way Serena kissed you?" she asked and he nodded. "I don't think she kissed you."
"Then who was it?" Nate asked.
"Wait, she told you she couldn't get into the party?" Chuck asked and again Nate nodded. "I was asked to go to the door to identify someone claiming to be my sister so I sent KC because I was with Blair, that's also when your mother came in."
"Maybe she's with Anne begging to be the face of her foundation and proving she's better then me again," Blair fumed.
"Spoke to my mother too, she hasn't seen Serena since our Hamptons summer before senior year," Nate said.
"She didn't need to see her Nate just talk to her," Blair pointed out.
"Fine I'll ask," Nate said getting up and walking out of the room to phone his mother.
"You're right, that's not my sister," Chuck said, he was still looking at the pictures on Blair's computer. "For one, that looks like a wig, and two Serena would never knowingly hurt us."
"She would never walk away from me while I was talking to her about my problems either. So some little wannabe pretended to be Serena and kissed both Nate and Dan and pulled the curtains on us? I can understand kissing Nate but Dan?" Blair asked looking from Chuck to the screen.
"Unless they wanted the three of us and Humphrey to be angry at Serena," Chuck said leaning back in her chair.
"But who would," Blair began to ask but then cut herself off and narrowed her eyes. "That evil little bitch, we told her there would be a war if she tried anything but she had to try us and the only way to get to S would be if we were not on her side anymore," Blair huffed as Nate walked back into the room. "That pathetic charity case of yours is what's responsible for tonight's events."
"Juliet? Well my mother just told me that Vanessa gave her Serena's letter to be the face of the foundation and told them to go to the ball," Nate said.
"So they teamed up, makes things interesting. We warned Juliet but we didn't touch Brooklyn girl," Chuck said turning to Blair.
"Should've dealt with her as well, I thought by now she would know not to mess with us, especially me," Blair said angrily her fists clenched.
"Blair where are you going," Nate asked as Blair grabbed her purse and stalked out of her room.
"Brooklyn, I need to get answers and make sure I instil fear in those that think they can cross me," she screamed. "Then we are going to whatever filthy dungeon the wannabe lives in, I have a score to settle."
Chuck smirked and Nate looked almost scared as they followed her into the elevator.
