"Hey Kagome! What are
you doing?" Inuyasha asked as he jumped out of the tree as
Kagome climbed out of the well. "I'm preparing for
Christmas."Kagome said as she pulled her bulging yellow backpack
out of the well. "What's Christmas?"Inuyasha asked, picking
up shining round thing that Kagome dropped. "And what's this
thing?" "That would be an ornament."Kagome said,
taking it from Inuyasha's hands. "Are Sango and the others at
Kaede's hut?"Kagome asked. "Yup"
Smiling, Kagome took off at run, leaving the surprised hanyou to follow her. And once again, surprising everyone, instead of greeting them, Kagome went about, decorating a small pine tree outside the hut. She was putting shiny round things around it and draping shiny string through it. And she put a big yellow star at the top. "Uh, Kagome-chan, what are you doing?"Sango asked. "Decorating the tree."Kagome said as draped more shiny string around it. "We can see that. But why are you?" Miroku asked. "It's for Christmas."Kagome replied, as she opened her backpack and stated pulling out shiny boxes.
"What's Christmas?"Shippou asked. "In a minute."Kagome muttered as she placed the boxes around the tree. Once she was all done, Kagome turned around clasped her hands together happily. "All done!" She said cheerfully." Now will you tell us why the hell you did that?"Inuyasha demanded. "Because today is Christmas Eve so I had to prepare something special for you guys!"Kagome gushed.
"Will thee tell us what this Christmas is?" Kaede asked, stepping outside. "Oh, that's right. My bad. Sorry I forgot."Kagome said, her face slightly pink. "Christmas is when families and friends get together and give each other gifts to show how much they care and to just be together."Kagome explained briefly. "So you brought us presents?"Shippou asked, his eyes shining. "Uh-huh. You can open them now, if you want."Kagome offered. "Yes, please!" Four of them exclaimed. Inuyasha just said "feh" but his eyes held curiosity. "This one's for Sango."Kagome said as she handed a box to Sango. "And this is for Miroku." "Here's one for Shippou." "This is for you, Kaede." Kagome stood up for the last one. "And here's yours, Inuyasha." They all happily took their gifts and opened them. Miroku got a handsome scarf and hat. Sango got a lovely new ribbon for her hair and a cat toy for Keelala. Kaede was given a beautifully carven walking stick. Shippou got a stuffed teddy bear.
Inuyasha received three cups of a ramen and some sword handle cleaner. "Merry Christmas, you guys!"Kagome exclaimed when she saw how everyone liked their gifts. "But Kagome, we didn't get you anything..."Sango realized, sadly. "Oh, don't worry about it. You don't give gifts to receive gifts."Kagome said smiling.
10 minutes later and everyone presented Kagome with a gift. Miroku gave her a cute coin purse, which nobody asked him where that came from, for fear of his answer. Sango gave her a pretty sash to help hold the shikon jewel shards. Shippou drew a funny face on an acorn and charmed it so it would spin and make sounds whenever someone clapped their hands. And Kaede gave Kagome some new arrows. "Oh, thanks you guys!"Kagome squealed as she hugged each one of them. But Inuyasha was up in the tree, trying to think of a gift for Kagome. With a sudden thought, he leapt down from the tree, took Kagome's hand, and led her away from the others.
"Inuyasha, is something wrong?"Kagome asked, a little scared of the look in his eyes. Inuyasha then took hold of her shoulders, pulled her close, and kissed her.
"Merry Christmas, Kagome."
