AN: I was playing CoD MWII when this little drabble hit me. Enjoy.

Ivan was a bog-standard, generic Russian soldier sitting against an American suburban house smoking a cigarette as he rested. On his knees, with his hand resting on top, was his TAR-21 assault rifle with red dot sight. His friend Gregor, another bog-standard, generic Russian soldier, was sitting beside him with a P-90 personal defence weapon with an ACOG sight. To their front sat yet another bog-standard, generic Russian soldier holding an FN-FAL rifle with iron sights. Suddenly a question occurred to him. He turned to face his friend.

"Gregor, we're supposed to be the bad guys in this game, right?" he asked curiously and Gregor rolled his eyes.

"We're the Russian army and we're invading America, something we'd never do in real life. Or be able to do without being noticed. So yes, we are the bad guys," he said in a long-suffering voice.

"Then why do we have so many different guns, from countries who are allied to America or are on friendly terms with America?" he asked and Gregor looked at Ivan with a puzzled expression. Or at least as puzzled as the graphics would allow him.

"What do you mean Ivan?" he asked and Ivan gestured to his own weapon.

"My TAR-21 is an Israeli weapon. Your P-90 is made in Belgium, as is his FN-FAL rifle. And none of these guns fire the same calibre of round, or are interchangeable with our AK-47's or one another," Ivan pointed out as he waved his arms about. "Why is that? Wouldn't we be using a standard issue Russian rifle like the AK-47?"

"Oh dear. Another one it seems," a computer programmer muttered to himself as he watched the exchange. "Better throw them into combat." And with a few taps on his keyboard, he sent them to attack the player character.

"You just HAD to ASK, didn't you?" Gregor asked angrily and Ivan had the decency to look ashamed.

"Sorry," he said as they were gunned down by a bored kid burning up some time.

AN: Never did get why they had so many different weapons in the CoD MW series. Especially when they're supposed to be a standardised army. And are supposed to be HOSTILE to America and her allies.
